How to modify or cancel your Damage Protection Plan: A step-by-step guide for landlords

The Damage Protection Plan (DPP) on Furnished Finder provides landlords with added damage protection for their monthly rental properties. However, there may be situations where you need to modify or cancel an existing plan. Whether you're adjusting coverage due to a lease extension or canceling a plan before it starts, this step-by-step guide will walk you through the process.

Access the Damage Protection Plan section

To get started, log in to your Furnished Finder dashboard and navigate to the Landlord Tools section. You can also access your Damage Protection Plans by clicking here (bookmark this link for future access).

Click on "Damage Protection Plan" to access your purchased plans.

Select the plan you want to modify or cancel

Once you're in the Damage Protection Plan section:

  • Scroll down to "My Plans" to see a list of your active plans.
  • Locate the plan you wish to modify or cancel.
  • Click the "Modify/View" button next to the plan.

Need to cancel a plan?

Canceling a plan is available under specific circumstances:

  • Every plan is available for cancellation within 24 hours of purchase, in case you have changed your mind and no longer wish to have the coverage.
  • You can also cancel future plans for coverage periods that have not started yet.
  • Once the start date begins, the plan is non-refundable unless it is within the initial 24 hours.
  • Future months are available for cancellation if you decide not to continue coverage.

If you need to cancel a plan:

  • Click "Cancel" next to the plan period you'd like to remove.
  • Keep in mind: Refunds are only available if the plan is canceled before the start date.

Remember: All information on your plan must match the lease with your tenant exactly. If you have made an error in entering the details, please cancel your plan and create a new one.

Need to extend coverage?

If your tenant extends their lease, you can purchase additional plan coverage before the current plan expires. This will provide protection for the tenant’s entire stay.

Remember that in order for a plan to be valid if you file a notice, you need to have coverage for the tenant’s entire stay.

If your tenant extends their lease and you do not extend your coverage, you are no longer covered for potential damage incurred during their extension.

  • Click "Extend Coverage."
  • Select the new end date of the updated lease.
  • Double-check the details to ensure continuous coverage.

Final tips

It’s important to make sure that your Damage Protection Plan is accurate and the dates of stay, tenant name, etc., match up exactly with those on your lease.

If you have any questions about coverage specifics, please be sure to check Waivo’s Terms and Conditions.
