THE HOUSE: You will be sharing this space with myself, an oncology RN. I work 2-3 days a week from 6:30a to 8pm and spend most of my off days surfing at the coast or hiking/backpacking in the mountains, so although the space is shared you will spend a majority of your time here alone. I also have a small 15yo pug who will share the space and sleeps most of the time. The most noise she makes these days is her snoring.
You will be renting a fully furnished bedroom in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath mid-century modern home with newly remodeled kitchen in the Portsmouth/St. John's neighborhood. This is a classic mid century home with a cozy open floor plan in around 1000sqft. The house includes a newly remodeled entertainers kitchen, open wood ceilings, a fully functioning wood stove, washer/dryer on site, WiFi (w/ Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime), a fully fenced yard and a recently remodeled backyard with a firepit, seating area and a propane grill. The furnished room is the master bedroom that is 14' x 18'! It has a queen size memory foam mattress, a double closet, a large dresser and 3 sets of windows. There is also enough space in the room to set-up a desk/office space and/or do your daily yoga. There is a full bathroom across from the bedroom that has been lightly remodeled as well.
THE LOCATION: If you choose this house, you will feel like you're living in a quiet residential area with access to city living minutes away. Right across the street is one of many of the city parks! The house is a short walking distance to New Seasons and right in between the main strips in Portsmouth and St. John's.
-A 20 min walk (5 min drive), towards downtown St. John's will bring you to a Fred Meyers, Food cart pod (falafel, pizza, ice cream, beer, etc), the Lombard House Brew Pub (fantastic beer selections and games), delicious Thai (Drunken Noodle), a great taqueria (Rose City) and the ever present Starbucks.
-Head a little bit further into St. John's and you have so many other options (Gabagool (Italian), , Homegrown Smoker (vegan), Ben & Ester's Bagels (best in the city!), Fixin' To (southern food & a music venue), Stormbreaker Brewing (brewery), Occidental Brewing, Two Stroke (coffee), and many more (read the PDX EATER articles here: https://pdx.eater.com/neighborhood/1482/st-johns )
-A 20 min walk, or 5 minute drive, towards the main strip in Portsmouth will bring you to Cha Cha Cha Taqueria, Sundown Pub, Twilight Room Bar & Grill, Chill N Fill Brew Pub, East Side Deli, Fishwife Seafood Restaurant, a Sunday Eagle's Lodge Flea Market (where they also have amateur wrestling!) and all your auto repair needs.
-It's a 20 minute drive to downtown Portland, a 15 minute drive to the Mississippi or Alberta Neighborhoods and there are multiple bike lanes (Willamette/Greeley) and public transportation close by (bus # 4 & 72 run 1/2 block away).
