I absolutely loved this property. The cottage is nicely nestled in the trees which makes it feel like a quiet and private oasis. The house is newly renovated including comfortable new furniture and a new deck overlooking the lake - a perfect place to sip your morning coffee while watching the fog dissipate over Lake Shoecraft. The house has good character, with the wood burning fireplace and corner windows. The landlord was responsive and answered queries quickly. They have the home professionally cleaned between each tenant so it is spotless. The kitchen had everything I needed and wanted - pots, pans, blender, all the good stuff. I'm an outdoorsy person and loved that the house was literally waterfront with a dock, and only a 5 minute drive to the ocean and a 30 minute drive to the mountains. It is also well situated between Bellingham and Seattle - roughly an hour to both. There were plenty of grocery options nearby (Safeway, haggens, grocery outlet). Would strongly recommend!

    We are the fourth generation of our family to enjoy the magic of this lake-front location. Built by my grandparents who commuted up from Seattle, they enhanced the property over many years, but allowed much of it to remain in its natural state, resulting in grand trees and and tree-like rhododendrons. They enhanced the woodland gardens and created a great swim beach and social area where three generations learned how to swim. It's special for so many reasons... one of the few remaining forested properties in the region, with abundant wildlife and native plants. You could make red huckleberry pancakes all...
