What this property offers
Blue Agate Beach House is in the historic Agate Beach neighborhood, and is within walking distance from so much! It's two blocks from trails down to the local beach with amazing tidepools during low tide. Or a few steps further and you find yourself in Yaquina Head Natural Area which has a network of trails and views up and down the coast. The famous Yaquina Head Lighthouse sits at the end of the headlands and shouldn't be misse...
Your living space is huge -- about 1200 square feet. The bedroom is large enough to double as an office. You have your own private bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The shared spaces are the living room (with wood burning stove), kitchen, & laundry room. There is a lot of separation between the front of the front & back of the house where my room is, so you'll have plenty of privacy. I'm a fairly quiet person, respectful, cl...

I spent three months living here and had an all-around great experience. The house is not only clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, but it has a really calm and positive feel to it. The bedroom and bathroom are thoughtfully decorated and set-up with a super comfortable bed and bedding, tons of storage space, a window where you can watch the sunset and hear the ocean, a big walk-in shower, and desk that I actually liked sitting at. Getting to the beach is a quick walk and the trail down to it is beautiful. The neighbors are friendly and the neighborhood is very safe and quiet. When I was originally looking for a place, I wasnt sure I wanted to share a space with someone else, but I am so happy I ended up living here with Joseph as a housemate. Joseph is incredibly kind, considerate, and beyond easy to share a house with. Im a happily introverted person but I far preferred this to living alone.
This house was the perfect home base for my three month travel nursing assignment! The host was communicative, accommodating, and thought of everything that a person could need or want in their home away from home. Everything from extra blankets to directions to the beach to firewood to a tide chart and takeout menus! It was a cozy place to spend a coastal winter and I'd stay here again if my job ever brings me back to Newport.
Pros: Amazing beach access one block away- mostly private- great view of Yaquina lighthouse- mountain, forest, and ocean views are . The space was cozy! I adored the swivel chair in front of the wood fire stove on cold evenings- very delightful if youre up for fire building and the hauling and splitting wood/ash. The bed was very cozy and those sheets? Pure heaven. Cons: Many window coverings are janky- neither the living room, laundry room nor kitchen are private due to insufficient covering and I had to tape the bedroom blinds down to prevent major gaps. Not a fan of the one lock with easy code access. I would have preferred an additional internal lock- it felt unsecure to me. I unplugged the Alexa for my own piece of mind. ;) There were inconsistencies between the lease price and amount expected to pay. There was a passive request for $ for wood use after the fact though it was included. J was generous working this out. Overall A+! Highly recommend.
Blue Agate Beach House was our home base for an extended visit to Newport, OR. We walked several times a day to the beach, it was just out the door. Our room was airy, clean and comfy. The shower was huge and luxurious! If you can, light a fire in the super efficient fireplace in the main room- the house fills with warm, dry air which compliments the misty ocean breeze coming from the West. Blue Agate Beach House is a dreamy, comfy castle!
