PROs: -Overall privacy of unit with private entrance -Modern styling in unit -Extra security of renting in same house where the landlords live -House has at least one security camera in front - After reporting bugs in the unit, landlords agreed to spray insecticide outside the house. CONs: -Unit has bugs. Almost daily, an unknown type of bug which bites and/or roaches were seen in the unit, even after insecticide spraying -Upon move-in to the unit, ---Mattress had no plastic mattress cover and multiple stains, including a red spot stain. Existing new mattress cover purchased by Tenant. ---Bottom of shower liner was layered with dark mildew. Existing new shower liner purchased by Tenant. ---Coffee grounds were still in coffee maker from previous tenant. ---Feces residue was at bottom of inside of toilet ---Bath rug contained visible debris -No TV -No microwave -No trashcan in kitchen -Due to bug problem, landlord stated tenant did not "need to stay the whole month," and landlord would "gladly prorate" tenant "for the days stayed," and tenant could "break contract at any time with no penalty." ---Tenant informed landlord of potential move out on 14th of following month - or possibly sooner - pending update from new landlord ---Upon receiving update from new landlord, tenant informed landlord of moveout for the following day. ---Landlord failed to prorate remaining month's rent of 12 days and instead prorated only 7 days, stating offer to prorate for days unused was "meant" to apply "only for the first week" of the month, although this limit was not clearly specified. ---Landlord made verbal and demeaning insults toward tenant
About the landlord
Jonathan
Welcome to our tiny home. I hope we can make you feel comfortable during your stay with us. On our time off, we like to spend most of our time visiting family. During my undergraduate years I did a term abroad in Munich, Germany and this opened my eyes to the uniqueness of different cultures and individuals' beliefs, therefore I focused on a career of serving others' mental needs. I'm a professional in the behavioral science field, currently working as a psychiatric therapist.
