This landlord A) Does not put the security deposit in an escrow account (or if she does, it is not done correctly), This is illegal. B) She does not return the security deposit with interest, which is illegal. C) She withholds the "cleaning fee" from the security deposit which is illegal. Finally, she withholds the above mentioned $100 "cleaning fee" from the security depositi which is illegal. The cleaning fee should either be built into the monthly rental fee or charged separately. Two illegal actions: 1. Security not held in escrow account and not refunded with interest. 2. Cleaning "fee" withheld from security deposit. This place was so lovely! Even though its a studio, it feels spacious with the separate desk, kitchen, and living room areas. Theres so much natural light during the day, and the stars are really visible at night. Its located on a quiet street and backs up to the woods. Friendly landlords and very clean space. Wed definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in the area!

I have no hesitation recommending this place. I loved coming home to a peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful trees after a stressful day; the interior is just as beautiful. The family was welcoming and responsive to any concern. Their smart dog is so sweet! And the chickens! Everything worked fine, and if it didn't, they immediately fixed it. They even put up motion detector lights outside because I felt a bit nervous about a bear sneaking up on me in the dark (I NEVER saw one, at any point day or night - unfortunately! I was hoping to see one!) There are no shades/curtains on the many windows, but it honestly is not needed - better without them! (I did put one on the bathroom window!) Just crack those windows and feel that breeze. Litchfield and the area is also a great place to explore. @ the Corner is the best restaurant. White Memorial is an expansive area with many trails.
