    We are a couple of architects in our 60's that have been building our dream house at the top of the Oakland hills. We built the garage and guest house first and lived there while we built our main house which we just moved into. The guest house is under the garage (downslope lot) with complete privacy from the street but a great view of the bay. The main house is a separate structure, so there are no connected walls ceilings or floors with the guest house.
