Quaint Comfortable and close to the beach

Rental space did not meet expectations and was full of shortcomings. Just a portion of a house so if anyone is in the other portion, just thin unlockable doors divide the spaces. A number of expected kitchen items were either not there or non-functional, including measuring spoons or cups, scissors, working can opener, baking pans, corkscrew, etc. Water/ice-maker in the fridge was non-functional. Open vents in the floors throughout resulted in un-dehumidified basement air circulating in the living spaces. Several electric circuits were without covers, considered a safety hazard. Overall, the space was relatively clean upon arrival, however, dirt in sink and on floors and the ironing board was very dirty. We returned the space in same-or-better condition, yet the amount returned did not equal the full deposit less the agreed-upon cleaning fee. Essentially, the cleaning fee was more than doubled, without justification. Listed as 65 smart TV, but its a 50 low-end Scepter. Internet was so slow, any command to the TV took 10-15 seconds, which took a little getting used to. Similarly, the two small window A/C units were about as low end as you can get so people looking for summer rentals should be aware of that. Lastly, the whole reservation experience was undesirable. First, we had to pay for a background check despite paying for both months' rent plus a hefty $2,000 deposit up front before we even got there. A massive 12 page rental agreement was involved, which included words that the tenants are to provide (and proof thereof) house liability insurance coverage for damage due to fires, storms, etc. We have a long history of positive home rentals on other sites and, after this experience, we will stick with those other sites.
