Review your contract and double check dates. Will not honor mistake on contract even though everything was discussed and mistake acknowledged in text. Will charge for time not in unit and will take it out of your deposit. We immediately checked out because he schemed from day 1. Informed him we would not be taking possession until March 9, but we paid on 6th when we looked at the place. He then tried to charge us for the 3 days prior. That was not the agreement. He is shady and not an honorable landlord. DO NOT RENT FROM HIM. HE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY.

Bran is entirely mistaken in his presentation of the issue .It is well understood that a rental contract begins on the day listed on the contract.Providing that the keys are delivered to the occupant .that the occupant has paid the rental fee in full..It is not within the property owners preview to know if or when the occupant is sleeping in the unit if or when the occupant may go home for a temporary visit for the weekend. ALL OF THE ABOVE WERE AT ISSUE IN THIS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT .
