1. The market is booming—and so is demand
Furnished Finder surpassed 2 million tenant inquiries in the January through March timeframe, with booking requests up significantly thanks to updates that help match tenants and landlords more efficiently. While “monthly rental” may sound simple, it’s what people are actually searching for—50x more popular in search than “midterm rentals.”
2. Business travel and Relocation are driving the surge
While traveling nurses remain a strong tenant group, the largest tenant type is now business travelers. However the biggest shift in 2025 has been a 130% increase in relocation-driven stays. Families moving cross-country, trying new neighborhoods, or renovating are all contributing to this trend. And many are choosing to stay longer than they originally planned.
3. Families and groups are fueling growth
The average group size has jumped from 1.6 to 2.6 people per booking. Nearly 85% of booking requests now include two or more tenants, and requests for 3+ bedroom homes are on the rise. This means demand is expanding beyond traditional studio or one-bedroom setups.
4. Supply gaps = opportunity
Jeff highlighted cities and regions where demand is far outpacing supply—including Silicon Valley, Portland, ME, and Abilene, TX (where massive data center projects are creating new housing needs). If you own or manage a property in an underserved area, now might be the perfect time to list.
