Saint Louis sits on the Mississippi River in eastern Missouri, near the confluence with the Missouri River. The city is anchored by healthcare, two major universities, and a large logistics and manufacturing base. Most furnished rentals are taken by healthcare workers on assignments at the BJC HealthCare or SSM Health systems, visiting academics at Washington University or Saint Louis University, and project workers in manufacturing or logistics. The city also draws short-term renters for medical appointments at the area's specialty hospitals.
Saint Louis is split into the city of Saint Louis (an independent city) and Saint Louis County, which surrounds it. Downtown sits on the Mississippi River, with the Gateway Arch on the riverfront. The Central West End sits west of downtown around Forest Park, with most of the major hospitals. The Hill, Soulard, and Lafayette Square are residential neighborhoods near downtown. Clayton, in the county, is a separate downtown with corporate offices and the county courthouse. Maplewood, University City (U City), and Webster Groves are inner-ring suburbs west of the city. The MetroLink light rail connects parts of the city to the airport. Most residents drive.
Where you stay usually depends on why you are in town. Travel nurses cluster in the Central West End, close to Barnes-Jewish and Saint Louis Children's. Academics and visiting students stay in U City or the Central West End for Washington University, or in Midtown for Saint Louis University. Business travelers often stay in Clayton or downtown. Families look for schools and space and pick Webster Groves, Kirkwood, or West County. Listings span the metro, so you can filter by neighborhood, price, and amenities to match your stay. Since we don't charge booking fees, more of your budget goes toward your rental instead of extra costs!
