Untrustworthy Landlord

I strongly recommend avoiding this rental. While the location is convenient, the experience was highly negative, and nearly $1000 was wrongfully withheld from our security deposit. The landlord was unresponsive, often claiming to be too busy" to address concerns. When I questioned charges for 10 days we weren't in the unit, she hung up on me and ignored further calls. Despite confirming our move-out date and final rent amount, she withheld funds for days we weren't there, only returning a portion at the last possible moment on the legal deadline. The rental also came with issues: undisclosed construction, rats in the unit, and a sliding door that was already damaged when we moved in but was falsely blamed on us. Additionally, she withheld the money for cleaning fees that were never mentioned in the rental listing. We are pursuing this matter in small claims court. If you choose to rent here, document everything thoroughly and demand your deposit before returning the keys.

I have been successfully renting this unit on Furnished Finder for over seven years with zero complaints. I have had many tenants come back to stay again, including this tenant. At the beginning of her second lease, the unit next door (that I do not own) came under construction. Due to the noise during the day, I offered the tenants the opportunity to terminate their lease early, which they chose not to. Nowhere in any of my communications with this tenant did they mention rats. This tenant extended their move-out date multiple times and confirmed their move-out same day, thus being 'charged' 10-days of rent. Under the Security Deposit section of the lease, the deposit may be used to repair damage, clean Property, replace Landlord's personal property, and cure Tenant's default in payment of rent. The move-out deep clean was $180. I have a text from the tenant that the door broke when they were using it and that they knocked the bedroom light fixture out of the ceiling while making the bed. The light was fixed within two days of the tenant notifying me of the issue, and I did not charge the tenant for either the light or the door.
