Amazing Views

I am a travel nurse in my 60's.I moved in on very short notice. The owner J was very kind to me and my situation. I have a very nice room overlooking a middle patio with a small view of the ocean. If you are on the main floor the view of the ocean is spectacular. J does not mind if you use any part of the house. She has 3 very nice small, loveable dogs. The house cleaner comes every week. There is an extra refrigerator and W&D on my floor. J likes to share her food and she is a great cook. She really goes out of her way to make her guests feel comfortable and welcome. I just signed another contract and will be staying. I highly recommend this home to anyone. M

TOXIC ENVIRONMENT

I would not recommend. The review from 5/28/22, I concur. I tried to remain neutral and cordial throughout my stay due to it being a great commute. Unfortunately I witnessed her disrespect to other tenants that was rude and her constantly asking me about other tenants. She has multiple visitors in the home that have door codes. It is not a private bath you share it with the other tenants and any guest she has. She had her painter, male, spend the night frequently and would yell at him and berate him. My daughter stated she treats people like the help. The rent is different depending on how she feels. She makes false accusations against tenants, has frequent work done on the home, has her toddler grandson a few times a week which is NOT a quiet environment. She enters rooms without permission. Gossips and makes derogatory remarks about other ethnicities. Your space is not secure. She is a bully and should not have tenants.

Steady regret

I should have seen the red flags when she called me for 35mins after making inquiry and spoke to me about her dogs and how renting from her is the best decision I can ever make. I spent a whole month without access to bathroom showed in the pictures and had to do laundry at the laundromat. I was subjected to take a trip to use her bathroom inside her room and had to share this with 2 other people. The whole upstairs stinks of dog pee, the 3 dogs pee on the pads laid out everywhere including the kitchen. It became so frustrating to stay there because she does not understand that some people like to have some peace and quiet after long hours of work. Started to act cold after I mentioned leaving at the end of the month. She brought people to look at the room without preinforming me. You can't have visitors. I understand no overnight guests but no visitors at all! She is very petty and would push her obnoxious character in your face everyday you live with her. I had to block her number

Perfect

This is perfect for travel nurse. The location of the house is amazing. The house is a 5-10 minute drive to the hospital and a 30 min- 1 hour drive to Santa Monica/ LA depending on the day and traffic. I worked night shift and never had a problem sleeping. My room was dark enough. She provides for all utility expenses, toilet paper, etc. She travels for work a good bit, but is a lovely host. If I take another contract out here I hope I am lucky enough to stay here again. Her view of the sunset even from the kitchen is breath taking and worth renting from her alone. I recommend staying here!

Love it here!

Stayed here with 2 other travel nurses. Loved it. Felt very at home and comfortable with Janice (owner). Two little loveable dogs, but the place is kept very clean. Janice travels for work but when she is there she respects the privacy of tenants. She also cooked a lot and would always share ! 5 min drive to beach. Good location. I worked in Torrance. Extended my contract and stayed here for 6 months total. Would def stay here again in the future.

Review

I lived with Janice for about 4 months and everything was fine in the beginning. She travels a lot and got to the point where she was expecting me to take care of her dogs during the week and for long weekends. When I stopped, she became a different person and was really rude to me. The dogs are sweet but they are not house trained and they go to the bathroom everywhere and on everything!! Janice also let people sleep in our roommates bedroom without his consent while he was out of town and tried to lie about it. That was the last straw and that roommate and myself both moved out.
