Due to the large number of housing requests, I will respond only to those with travel dates that our room availability can accommodate. If you do not hear from ...
Great home better hosts
The room has a bed, a desk, a dresser, a chair, a reasonable closet and a nice fan. I stayed in the summer and they offered me an in room AC unit that they store in the closet, but being from a warmer part of the country it felt good to me without it. The hosts will tell you you live there. They tell you the house is now your home. And they super mean that. You'll have fridge space, cabinet space, and with few restrictions access to all of their kitchen stuff. I never took full advantage of that but it was there. They have two very loving medium-large dogs. I grew up with dogs so the occasional barking was a happy sound for me, and they will great you excitedly whenever you come in. Honestly that was uplifting for me on some of the long shifts at carilion. As a person in healthcare P is often a very understanding ear if you have a hard day, both P and R are funny, empathetic and lovely people. They do rent another room, so you will have a third housemate, but their choice of person to share their home with was absolutely solid. Anyway, I highly recommend the room, the dogs, and the hosts.
If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would!
As a traveling medical student, I have had to stay in many cities with a variety of living arrangements. P and R's living space combined with their adorable two canine girls, L and S, was the first time that I truly felt like I had a home to return to. Their house is cozy, warm, and inviting. Both P and R are incredibly funny, welcoming, and amazing hosts to me during my stay there. If you need personal space, they'll more than give it to you. If you need a hug at the end of a long shift, they've got you covered too. P was especially resourceful when it came to giving me plenty of food recommendations to try around town, and her master list of things to try didn't disappoint one bit. The room itself was very clean and tidy - everything that you'll ever need is in the house somewhere, feel free to just ask, and the house is as convenient as can be. I personally have never owned any pets, but absolutely fell in love with L and S during my stay!
You are so lucky if you get to live here
Finding this housing was seriously the biggest blessing!! P and R are 20/10 human beings! They welcome you into their home and their lives in a way I wasnt expecting but that I am so happy for! The house is very nice, all great appliances and very spacious, in a great location, cutie dogs included, and I loved my room- all for a great price. I have a million good things to say about this place, so I hope you appreciate it as much as I did if you get the chance!
Home away from home
The owners and their puppies are some of the best things I have been around. The owners are respectful of any needs or requests you have and always make an effort to accommodate. I had the corner room, it gets plenty of light in the evenings and the included desk and chair were perfect for unwinding after work. The internet is incredibly fast with plenty of bandwidth so you won't have any issues there. The bed is very comfortable as well. The dogs are very well behaved and I love them like my own, they will always keep you company but if you ask them to leave they always listen. The house is in a quiet and safe neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac, plenty of room to park and I never had a problem with any neighbors. I couldn't recommend living here more. Their friends come over and visit and I have made friends from their friends. I will definitely be returning just to visit and say hi!
100% recommend!
I lived with Pam & Richard during my PGY1 pharmacy residency year. This living situation could not have been more perfect! I had a cozy, quiet room in the corner of the house, which came pre-furnished with a comfy queen size bed and a big dresser. I felt very comfortable retreating to my room for personal space when I needed it after tiring workdays. The bathroom is shared with the other tenant, but is big, has plenty of room for storage, and is well-lit. The kitchen is spacious and frankly, beautiful! In addition to all of this, Pam & Richard were incredible housemates and friends! I got into mountain biking with them, and we all went biking together at least once a week. I became great friends with them as well as their group of friends, who are such good people and came over from time to time for brunches and dinners. Pam does some INCREDIBLE work in the kitchen, so youd be dumb to ever turn down any meal/dessert she offers you. To top it all off, their dogs are THE CUTEST!!!
Wonderful Time
Everyone here is very welcoming, nice, and active ESPECIALLY if you like biking, but you'll go biking one way or another :). The property is a very nice home. Each room comes with comfy queen sized beds. Storage is a little small. The room I stayed in had an external AC unit, which worked for me but could get a little loud for others. The house has a lot of natural light, as the house is mainly lit by the large window in the living room and the kitchen windows/deck doors and expresses the chill, nature vibe of the house. Breakfast is great because the chickens in the backyard make some real nice eggs. Movie night is great with the humongous sectional and hilarious roommates. Most everything you need for cooking, cleaning, and bedding is provided. Going out on the porch or below is very relaxing to observe nature and listen to the animals rustle around in the leaves. I loved living here.
Welcoming
This home is 15-17min from Carilion, with day views of the mountains around Roanoke,& a glimpse of the Roanoke Star when you're driving home@night. The owners are avid mountain bikers,& encourage you to join them. Simple room,I just brought stuff with me to make it homey. A small desk/lounge chair fit easily in the room. That brings me to wifi...this house has the most amazing connectivity, super fast. The bathroom & gourmet kitchen are beautiful. Luckily,my first experience at shared living resulted in an amazing experience with two of the most hospitable and generous people I have ever met.
