Thanks for the great stay!
I stayed for a couple months while working in the area. Jo was very accommodating and made sure I had everything I needed. Even provided me with some food when I arrived since it was late and I didn't have time to go to the store. The bed was comfortable and the cottage afforded ample privacy. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay for a few months.
Stay away
I was surprised to see this lady still renting these Butternut apartments. I have video of the holes and mold in the shower in the apartments she tries to rent the shower head was rigged up to the sailing dangling with wire. Oven leveled with cardboard. Space heaters with frayed electrical cords. Raw drywall for ceilings. Spray painted arrows and numbers on the siding giving it a haunted house vibe. I waled away after driving 18 hours and seeing the place. She kept my security deposit and threatened small claims court. Stay. Away.
Beware
I would not recommend this property. The owner is overbearing and nosy. I was harassed about the direction I would park my car (front end in vs. backing in) , where I unloaded my bike or my heavy groceries. I wasnt able to leave a lawn chair out in warmer weather or have an AC unit. It was sweltering and I was told to use fans. Be aware.
The Gardner's Cottage
I enjoyed my stay at the Gardner's Cottage. It's nessled in very quiet and tranquil setting. J the owner is a kind warm-hearted soul who made sure I had everything I needed including food to start me off. I enjoyed watching the season's change while living in a historic dwelling. Do not hesitate on renting the cottage it truly is a wonderful place. L
Great location and Great landlord
Even during the pandemic the land lord made sure thing were promptly and properly taken care of ! Open communication was great
Great studio
Great place surrounded by Nature. I stayed there for an assignment at Dartmouth Hitchcock and ended up staying a year. In an area where housing is slim, this cottage is a gem. Also, Jo and her family were very kind to me, and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. If youre a single person or a couple, this is the place to be. I will definitely be back!
Lots of character
Though no washer and drier and limited heating/cooling the place is a 1766 farm house. It has some original beams in it a claw foot tub and lots of land. The owner is on premises in the main house. It has very friendly tenants and landlord. There is a little area made for planting a small garden and BBQ area that is very relaxing. Many acres. Good for well behaved pets.
