My stay in DC was cut shorter than I would have liked it, but my stay in Southeast DC was wonderful! Shenandoah was a very gracious host and has a lovely home. Also, there is a very friendly and shy cat that I grew fond of. The room is quite cozy and many amenities are provided. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would absolutely do it again.

Dear S, Thank you for hosting me for 6 weeks in your home while I attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital for my Psychiatry rotation. In addition to your home being so close to the hospital, you provided a safe and welcoming environment. Communication was top notch as we always found an agreement with our duties and hours for using the kitchen, restroom, etc. I enjoyed spending time with you and Sophia! Your home was of great convenience for me as it was so close to the hospital, accessible to the metro that I used multiple times to visit downtown, and an awesome Whole Foods grocery store nearby at a walking distance. I definitely recommend anyone who will be attending the hospital for psychiatry to stay with S. And if you will not be working in healthcare but are pursuing other dreams and need a place in southeast DC, S will welcome you and make you feel at home. The perfect place for me to stay while I worked at JBAB! Shenandoah is amazing and her cat, Sophia, is darling. The room decor is just like the photos. The setup was thoughtful of ensuring comfortability. She makes sure to think about the details of what is needed for your stay so that you feel welcomed. The location is great because it's close to the metro, and you have an amazing travel time to all locations listed. There is also a lot of new things around Congress Heights that are popping up that she gave some tours of, so the area itself is interesting to explore. Also parking is not an issue if you have a car. The rest of the house decor and use is also really nice, I could work virtually when need be. I would come again and recommend the place to others who need to stay in DC.

Great Place in SE DC

I rented Shenandoahs basement suite for the 23-24 school year. It was my first time living in DC as I relocated from MA, so I had no clue what to expect as it was also my first time using FF. Shenandoah initially made contact with me when I created my FF account to look into her unit which was available. From the pictures, I determined that her unit would be well suited for my needs. It was located in a prime location right near Congress Heights, and even better for me, it was a 5 minute drive from the school I would be teaching in. During my stay, her unit was exactly as pictured. Clean, comfortable, and it became a home away from home for me. Shenandoah was a very communicative and responsive landlord, and she treated me very kindly during my stay. She helped me acclimate to the city and always alerted me to current happenings. I would have loved to stay another year, but I am transferring to another school on the other side of the city. I do highly recommend!

Perfect Basement Studio Unit For Short Term Stay

I stayed in this property for my summer internship and really enjoyed the space. S is an exceptional landlord who was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. The room is spacious and comes with all you could possibly need in terms of furniture and appliances. My lease included access to the kitchen, and I enjoyed cooking fresh meals. House is two steps from the Congress Heights Metro station (Green Line), which makes for an easy commute to work, especially in the summer heat. The neighborhood is developing quickly but has historically been a marginalized one. There's a good amount to do just in the area, with the Washington WNBA team playing down the street and a mall with Chipotle, a grocery store, etc., in the neighborhood. I also really enjoyed spending time in Navy Yard, which is just one metro stop away. I definitely would recommend staying here.

Amazing, Quiet Stay in Basement Suite

The suite has all the amenities youd need to feel comfortable (hangers, bedding, towels, hair dryer, etc). The bathroom is clean and updated with beautiful finishes. The living area is spacious and great to have a friend over for dinner or watch your favorite show (the tv is pretty big!). I truly loved the suite and the bookshelves add such character and coziness.

Lovely private suite

I stayed at this property for over 3 months and had an absolutely wonderful stay! The unit was very clean with lots of storage space and looked just like the pictures. The location was very convenient, whether you take the metro or drive, as the metro was only 1 block away, and there was always street parking. As a single female, I felt safe and would book with S again. She was a lovely host and very responsive to questions, comments, and concerns. The washer and dryer were on the main floor, but I never had any issues using the unit as it was available whenever I needed it. She also had a cat, Sophia, who was the cutest thing! I promise you will be satisfied if you decide to stay here.

Excellent Choice for Extended Stays

S offers a wonderful, quiet, cozy space for one to live in during their stay in DC. Situated one block from the green line train, you are able to travel to anywhere in the city in minutes, and if you have a car, there is always parking available on the adjacent street. The private entrance is very convenient when coming home after a late night on the town and really allows one to have a true sense of privacy in the suite. The suite amenities provided me with a comfortable stay that made my summer experience one to remember. S was always available if I had any questions or concerns and is very helpful, and her little kitten Sophia is such a sweetheart. I would recommend this suite to anyone looking for a place to call home that truly feels welcoming.

Cute and cozy home away from home

I am a nightshift nurse that had a contract at Inova Alexandria hospital! The commute was easy and only 20-25 minutes! This has been a wonderful home away from home for the last 15 weeks! The place and S completely exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely recommend this place for extended stays. The space has a private entrance, cozy sitting/dining/ entertainment area (featuring a large smart TV) and an update private bath! The chairs are both comfortable and very nap-able. The WiFi has been perfect for all the work from home activities Ive had to complete! The private space has all the added touches you need for a longer stay (coffee pot, microwave, vacuum, mini fridge/freezer, silverware, etc). There is a bonus closet Ive used for part of a pantry and my clothes as well as the clothing rack in the bedroom area. So much storage space! There is a bookshelf Ive used for food and everyday kitchen storage. The shared area is an updated and very clean kept space! The shared laundry is very easy to access and Ive never had any issues with the availability of use! The basement apartment is very convenient to the Metro and other major roadways. The parking is also conveniently located next to the home and Ive never had an issue finding any. Communication with S was smooth and she replies fast. She checked in on me throughout my journey and made sure I was settling in and adjusting to the space. She was always available for any questions that arose but she allowed me to have privacy during my stay. I 100% recommend this home/host for any future long term stays!

Wonderful Quiet Suite

Shenandoah has a very beautiful suite. I had an assignment at GW Hospital working night shift, this property is less than 20 mins away and I had no troubles sleeping during the day after shifts. Shenandoah was very accomodating to my schedule, and respected my space given that I am more introverted than most. I had my own private area complete with a private entrance, parking was always available and it was nice to come home to a residential area after working in the busy city. The metro is also only a block away and very convenient. I would absolutely recommend Shenandoahs suite!

Perfect 13 Weeks

This basement studio was a gem to find in the DC area. Beautifully decorated and completely furnished with everything I needed to get through my 13 week assignment. I had a smooth 15-25 minute commute to Clinton, Maryland with plenty of grocery stores and shops along the way. The location is also conveniently located 3 blocks from the metro for exploring DC on my days off. I cant speak highly enough about the landlord. She was kind, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable about renters rights and the DC area! She always made sure to work with my schedule if she needed to e
