Eastlake is a mainly residential neighborhood bounded by Lake Union to the west and Capitol Hill to the east and the Ship Canal and University Bridge to the north, and South Lake Union, Seattle's main technology hub to the south. Eastlake Ave. East is a main arterial with retail shops, restaurants, cafes, and apartments. It also has a large houseboat community along Lake Union's shores, about 200 yards from the house.
Wonderful summer with a great host and housemates
I stayed with Jim and my fellow housemates this summer while I completed an internship in downtown Seattle. Jim is a wonderful host, very friendly and very accommodating. My fellow housemates were all lovely, and Jim really takes care that all housemates are thoughtful individuals and likely to get along. Getting downtown for my internship via bus 70 was easy, and the nearest bus stop is only a block or so from Jim's house. The house is very cozy, and it was easy to get settled in right away. Staying in this house was a great way to experience Seattle, and I absolutely loved living in Eastlake and being so close to Lake Union and Volunteer Park.
Fantastic Summer Stay with a Friendly Host and Great Amenities
I stayed with Jim during Summer 2024 while completing a summer internship in Seattle, and it was a fantastic experience. Jim is an excellent hostvery friendly and accommodatingand the other housemates were warm and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I stayed in the upstairs bedroom, which was spacious and comfortable. It included a large bedroom with plenty of storage space thanks to a generously sized closet, a cozy den with a TV, and a shared balcony offering a beautiful view of Lake Union and the Olympic Mountains. The location is convenient, with a nearby bus station that made commuting to South Lake Union and Downtown Seattle for work quick and easy. The house is well-appointed, with in-house laundry, fully equipped kitchen and a spacious basement for storing outdoor equipment like bikes, camping gear, or skis/snowboards. Jim was very accommodating and up front about the shower in the upstairs bathroom, which is a bit lower to the ground than typical. It wasnt an issue for me and is just something to be aware of. During the summer months, the upstairs can get warm, but Jim kindly allowed me to use my portable A/C unit, which worked perfectly to keep the space comfortable. These were small aspects that didnt detract from the overall excellent experience, thanks to the unbeatable location, great amenities, and Jims outstanding hospitality. Overall, I highly recommend staying with Jim if you're looking for a furnished spot in Seattle. I would have gladly stayed longer if I hadn't already planned to return to California at the end of the summer.
Excellent Seattle Location
Beautiful Eastlake house with lovely roommates. There's a park across the street that allows off-leash dogs. It's super easy to get anywhere in the city, or to leave it with hwy access just around the corner.
More than what I bargained for!
I had a quick stint in Seattle in between my graduate studies, and I was not expecting to be so lucky in finding a place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet (although the house is right across a school, which I can imagine gets busy during the academic year), and from the roof, you have this spectacular view of Lake Union-- then walk down the street and you can be on the lake itself! If you don't mind the lack of grocery stores, or perhaps you can subsist off the abundance of coffee shops in the area like a *true* Seattlite, you're within a block from restaurants, some bars, the bus station to get you downtown/to the university, etc. J himself is such a delight: engaging, kind, and genuinely cares about your day! Any issues I had, he was quick to address, and any issues that he found, he was even quicker. If a lock needed fixing or the basement washer/dryer got overly excited, J was more than on top of it. Shared spaces are kept clean, and you're respected and trusted.
Home in Eastlake
I stayed in this home as a student completing clinical rotations and it was the ideal living situation. It provided ample living space with a well equipped kitchen, large bathroom, and washer/dryer. The outdoor space was accessible and functional (a huge bonus for the nicer months in western Washington). Eastlake is a great neighborhood for easy access to I-5 and Seattle transit, and is safe and walkable. The housemates were respectful and communicative, and provided a safe environment for both me and my cat. I would absolutely rent this space again or recommend the space to friends.
Beautiful Home in Eastlake
I lived here for a travel RN assignment in summer of 2021 and thoroughly appreciated my time. The home is truly gorgeous with ample relaxation space and a lovely deck/garden area; the kitchen is spacious and well-equipped; the bedroom is comfortable and large. Location is excellent - a 5 min walk to Lake Union and easy access to the rest of Seattle via bike, bus, or short drive. The housemates were respectful and amiable both to me and my animals (: Overall, would highly recommend this as a great living option in Seattle (and would gladly return myself if I ever have another assignment here!)
