Perfect stay!
I highly recommend this apartment building. The landlord is attentive, the property is clean and the accommodations are comfortable. I always felt safe coming and going (the police station is right next door!) This building is in the perfect location, nestled on a quiet cozy street convenient to all that D.C has to offer. If you have any concerns, no worries, the landlord is amazing and goes above and beyond. He cares not only for his building but the tenants alike. Look no further and make this your next home!
Very solid place
I felt compelled to leave a review after the negative one left by a previous renter. I've been living in the basement unit Apt 2 for 6 weeks now. I can't speak to the previous reviewer's experience, but I can say is that I don't find it to be accurate at all. From my perspective, the roommate is very kind and I've enjoyed my experience in the unit. The only drawback I could think of if I had to name one would be the lack of natural light. It's a basement unit though so that's to be expected. I would definitely recommend staying here. It's a wonderful location near Eastern Market and the Hill, and the landlord is very reachable and kind as well.

Great location and great price for area, neat and clean
Lived here for 5 years
I lived in the basement unit here for 5 years. The location is perfect if you're working on Capitol Hill, and it's only a few blocks from the Metro. The local grocery/convenience store a block away filled with an assortment of international snacks was a plus. The landlord was always responsive and made repairs and updates to the unit both unprompted and upon request. The basement is very spacious for a DC apartment. It's an old house, so it's not going to feel like one of the sleek new units in NoMa that rents for a few grand a month, but it more than gets the job done. Also I feel obliged to comment after reading the other review that I believe I also lived with the long-term tenant mentioned, and I had no issues for the five years we lived together.
Stay in Apartment 1
I stayed at this property while completing an internship on the hill and the location really cant be beat! Its a five minute walk from the eastern market metro stop and Trader Joes. The rooms in the apartment on the first floor I stayed in were all decent sizes and had nice furnishings. I appreciated not having to worry about bedding, towels, hangers, etc. I got along with both roommates in the apartment, but even then the space is set up to where you arent constantly interacting with others. Overall its a great place to stay short term!
Capitol Hills Hidden Gem
Ive rented at this property several times during my years in Washington, D.C., and it is hands down one of the best places Ive lived. The easy access to Trader Joes and the metro makes this spot especially convenient. The building is always well-maintained, clean, and cared for. The landlord is responsive, professional, and genuinely attentive, if something ever comes up, a quick text is all it takes for it to be handled right away. For the price, you wont find a better combination of comfort, reliability, and great management in D.C.
Perfect Location, Great Building!
I was concerned about safety and picked this place because the ad noted that the building was next door to the Capitol Hill Police Substation. I found that it was more than just safe. It was quiet, clean and just two blocks from the Metro. Landlord is a retired gentleman who does a great job!
Horrible Experience At This Property
I have been thinking about my experience here last year for quite sometime and decided to leave a review here as a warning to future tenants. I can not speak for the units on the first or second floor, but I can speak for the basement unit where I rented for four months. The basement unit is a two bedroom unit and is shared with one other tenant. This other tenant is long term and is very problematic. Without going in to details, I have never been so disgusted by a roommate and so confused by a landlord. The apartment was an absolute mess upon move in and dealing with the roommate for four months was horrible. The building is in a great location, but I'd recommend staying far away from this property. Plenty of better spaces in the neighborhood to stay at.
