Montlake
stress-free, trustworthy stay
I honestly can’t recommend Shirley’s place enough! Since I work in tech, finding a spot that’s actually quiet and reliable for remote work can be a challenge, but this home was perfect. Shirley usually hosts medical professionals, but she’s super welcoming to tech workers too and really gets that we need a focused space to get things done. Shirley herself is just awesome and so hands-on. She’s incredibly handy and stays on top of all the repairs and maintenance herself - you can really tell she has an eye for detail. She’s also a total pro at sewing, which just goes to show how much care she puts into everything she does! Plus, she’s really reasonable and easy to talk to. She even helped me out when I needed to get a car delivered to the house, which was such a huge help. If you’re looking for a stress-free, trustworthy stay with a landlord who truly takes pride in her home, Shirley is definitely the way to go!
Affordable, but cluttered
Shirley the host is amazing, and I got along with her very well! I think we could have been great friends. However, the basement room is quite small and damp. The entire home is quite cluttered and there's not enough room to cook/meal prep. If you aren't a big cook or prefer to stay in your room, this may be the place for you. However, I don't like to be confined to one space and it wasn't the right fit for me!
Shirley is the best!
From day one Shirley made me feel welcomed in her home, she has been hosting for many years and is very knowledgeable about Seattle and a great resource for new Seattleites. As an RN on night shift I did not have an issue sleeping during the day at Shirley's and that was crucial for me. I was able to cook meals, park my car out front and keep my bike in her garage. Shirley was available if I needed her for anything and I would recommend her place to a friend!
Wonderful, bright place
Wonderful room, with huge windows. Plenty of space, each room has their own refrigerator. Shared bathroom was always kept clean by S. S is the most kind person. One of the many perks of staying here is her! She has been having medical professionals stay in her house for years and it shows. She is kind and thoughtful! Will miss living at this place!
You must stay here!
This home is remarkable. In stunning Montlake, so close to everything. A half a mile walks to UW Montlake. The neighborhood is a gorgeous upscale tree lined area with such unique architecture everywhere. So comfortable, safe, exquisite while feeling like the coziest home you've ever been in. The owners are remarkable. I cannot recall a time when I have been around people that make you feel important, looked after and completely at home than these homeowners. The room is very large with the most remarkable windows and skylight. Seeing the sunrise and sunset through these windows brought such joy to my every day. It's filled with the most comfortable, well-made furniture and accessories. There are delightful coffee shops, restaurants with Lake Washington's ship canal a block away. Sunrise and sunset are stunning, while you watch kayakers and crew teams in this beautiful lake. This place is a must. I wish I could stay here forever. My absolute favorite place ever.
Feels like home...
It's hard to imagine a better host than S. She exists to help people - her words, not mine. And it's true..... she does. The room was very comfortable and spacious, and it'd be hard to beat for convenience to the University of Washington campus. And being right on the edge of the Washington Park Arboretum makes long, leisurely strolls a "walk in the park"!
