Dana's Place was a comfortable private stay

I stayed here 7 months so I was comfortable! The location is convenient with a lot of people walking in the area. Fourteenth street is bustling with shopping and the metro and bus stop under 5 minutes away. Local bars/restaurants are also within walking distance. If you have a car, to avoid tickets make sure you get the right active parking permit for zoned street parking from D. It's an English basement so hearing some foot steps from above is expected. You have control of your own heating/cooling to make it comfortable. The place is fully stocked with everything you need and I enjoyed cooking in the full size kitchen (including using the air fryer). I felt secure inside with the double locks on both entrances. D is upstairs and gives suggestions for the area, is quick at responding if you need anything, and shares her baked goods!

Great apartment in a great location!

Clean 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment in a good location. Fully stocked kitchen. Next to a metro stop and bus stop - easy transportation around the city. Great restaurants all around the neighborhood. Farmers market next door on Saturday mornings. Would highly recommend this apartment to anybody!

This place & Dana were great

I was down in DC for 7 months total and was in need of some last minute housing for the last two months of my contract at Howard. D was more than welcoming. She was fast in replying and really helped me settle into the apartment nicely. With two doors with code locks to get in the apartment I never worried about someone breaking in. The apartment has a spacious living room, washer and dryer IN the apartment for easy access. The kitchen was redone with all the appliances you need to cook and clean. The bathroom was clean when I arrived with no issues with the water, and D has provided cleaning supplies incase I didn't have. The bedroom has a nice queen sized bed and a power strip for your chargers. The neighborhood feels safe and is in walking distance to multiple stores and the metro. D was a great landlord and responded instantly with any questions. She's also a great cook if you're lucky enough to try her food! 10/10 would stay again and recommend to anyone.

Convenient and close to everything

Apartment was great for my travel nurse assignment in DC. Very conveniently located to shopping, grocery, and metro/public transportation. It was easy to get to nearby hospitals and D is a very timely and responsive host. If there was ever a problem, she had it fixed right away and very helpful in navigating the city life. I highly recommend!

Excellent

The landlady was very personable and pleasant!! Very helpful, giving me a brief rundown of the area and good places to check out while staying there. The property was perfect for my 3 month contract working in DC. Property was in walking distance to Washington MedStar or the shuttle. Great area. Shopping within walking distance and close to the subway and bus stops. Great area to live in. Owner was very responsive to any needs I had while staying at the property. All expenses included in the monthly rent. I would definitely rent from her again and would rent this property again. Thank you!!!

My Stay in Columbia Heights

I stayed at D's place from August to November. It's location near Columbia Heights metro and shops provided a great level of convenience to my daily life. D was very responsive when I had questions and was also very hospitable by periodically checking on me to see how I was doing during my stay. An added bonus was the desk and work chair which allowed me to comfortably work from home. If you are in the city and looking for a place for which you only need to bring your luggage, this place if perfect for you.
