Hilo Medical Center is only 3-miles down Kaumana Drive from our home, while the University of Hawaii campus is only 4-miles away.
Travel Nurse Housing
I am a travel nurse who just recently worked at Hilo Medical Center and lived in this home. The house had everything we needed, including washer and dryer, adequate parking, two guest bedrooms, and plenty of supplies. D was very responsive to our needs, especially when the wifi was down for a bit, being very considerate of my boyfriend and roommates who work from home full time. The house is in a decent neighborhood and I can't say I ever had any issues living there. We enjoyed our time there, and hope to pass on the good times to the next travel nurses!
Home is fine, Landlord is difficult
I have been a travel nurse for 3 years and exclusively used furnished finders and NEVER had such a bad experience. First, we were falsely advertised the nicer property (has since been remodeled by landlord) out of the 2 homes on the property. Then when we arrived to Hawaii, both vehicles that were being rented to us were not in driving condition and had to be taken to the shop leaving us with no car and having to find other arrangements. Then, when the owner came on the island, he came onto the property regularly without proper warning and wanted to do renovations to the home WHILE we were renting it. My roommate worked nights, I worked days, so we voiced our concerns and he ignored them and yelled at us calling us nasty things not appropriate to write here. Then when it was time to get our deposit back, he overcharged us for utilities and refused to give us our money back or even take our phone calls. Months later he messaged me offering to give us our money back, only if we took down our bad reviews. Overall, the house was fine and functional, the neighborhood had occasional fights in it, and the landlord is EXTREMELY difficult to work with and can be manipulative.
