Great Location

Very convenient location to be able to get just about anywhere in Bakersfield. The room was clean and just as the listing described. It was quiet, comfortable, and much better than local hotel options.

pest problem; financial loss

I'm disappointed with my rental experience. The space was not deep cleaned as advertised--dusty surfaces, urine stains in the bathroom, heavy water buildup in the shower, and a strong odor, likely from the wood. I experienced allergies the first week, making it difficult to rest. The biggest issue was pests: I found a dead roach, then a live one. When I informed the owner about my discomfort, her response was frustration over missed rental opportunities rather than any understanding of the inconvenience I faced. She also mentioned routine pest control but had not disclosed this before leasing. This would have impacted my decision to rent. I was charged a $500 early termination fee, despite staying only 2 of 6 nights that month (was charged a total of $890) and she immediately re-listed the space. Between the cleaning, pest issues, response,and relocation costs, the experience was financially and emotionally taxing. I would advise future renters to inquire thoroughly before committing.

I happily lived in this unit for 8 months! Being a medical student rotating at Kern Medical, I can honestly say I am so grateful for the Garnsey Suite. I felt so safe with M and S close by, and not to mention felt my needs were always met. Reaching out to S was a breeze! For example: I locked myself out on several occasions and she came running to me (around 7 am). The convince of having an accessible & dual landlord/handywoman (who goes above & beyond) was unreal. There is parking included, & the space is large and comfy. My fianc would come, there was more than enough space for both of us. The cons: the unit gets dusty (there is an awesome duster under the sink though), but this is pretty normal for Bakersfield. I purchased an air filter and it was great! No kitchen means eating out a lot if you stay there long term, which can get annoying at times. I didnt start feeling it till a few months in though. I would definitely recommend!!!!
