Security deposit
We rented a furnished apartment through Vail Properties. Our security deposit initially included a $200 deduction to replace a damaged door. After we questioned the charge, we were told the door was actually repaired rather than replaced, and $105 was refunded. We were also informed that because we hadn't returned the move-in checklist documenting pre-existing damage, they considered us responsible. My advice to future tenants is to complete the move-in checklist thoroughly and photograph every room and any existing damage immediately upon arrival.
