Quiet country retreat

Our stay with Lois and Dave couldn't have been better!

We stayed with Lois and Dave for more than a year after relocating from the Netherlands, and we could not have asked for a better place to land. Their cozy basement apartment in beautiful Sugar Hollow had everything we needed: a private entrance, a lovely porch for morning coffee, birdsong, sunrise views, and a peaceful natural setting close to hiking trails. Lois and Dave are wonderful hosts: kind, welcoming, responsive, and always ready to help. Over time, they became our friends, and now they are our neighbors! We loved the area so much that we bought our own home just a 10-minute walk away, and they even helped us find it. Their yard, firepit, and starry nights made the place feel truly magical. The most beautiful amazing place

10/10 recommend staying at this lovely home! It was so perfect for me being a travel contractor at UVA, I enjoyed many hikes right from my house, beautiful views and the absolute best host anyone could ask for. Lois and Dave go above and beyond for whoever is staying there to make sure they have anything and everything they need and are willing to do anything to help you out! They have the kindest souls ever! If you are young and traveling alone like I was this was a great spot to call home and feel safe!

Awesome rental

This was an awesome rental! In a wonderful location and offered everything and saw the rental that I would ever have thought about needing as a tenant. Very comfortable bed and living room conditions were awesome. It was very quiet and comfortable and the landlords were very accommodating with anything I needed. The noise level was next to zero as it was in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and extremely comforting. If I return to the area to work again, this is absolutely the place I would want to be. They even help me find a dog walker for my dogs, and when the walker was not available, they stepped in and took care of the dogs for me while I was at work. I would highly recommend if youre coming to the Charlottesville area to look into this as a place to stay.

Nice cozy and beautiful country stay!

My fianc and I with our 2 dogs stayed at this beautiful place out in the country for a month while we worked our last 4 weeks at UVA hospital. The hosts L and D are two of the nicest and most accommodating people we have rented from. The drive to UVA hospital takes about 30 minutes however the drive is so relaxing with very little traffic. The property itself has everything you could need. My fianc and our pets would not hesitate to stay here again if the opportunity were to ever present itself. We 10/10 would recommend! The place has nice little touches like a fireplace and all the kitchen essentials. The blackout curtains make sleeping a breeze and the bed is super comfy. Thanks L and D!!!

Peaceful Studio with great hiking and biking

We absolutely loved this property and cannot say enough about the owner's, L and D!! They are two of the nicest people you will ever meet! They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed during our time there. The property is perfectly maintained and kept to hotel level cleanliness. The kitchen has all the gadgets you can think of and many more located in storage for you to use as needed. The porch overlooks the mountains and flower meadow and hummingbirds are always about. We were able to take daily bike rides and walk the dogs along the main road with no issues of any kind. I highly recommend their beautiful suite as a place to stay in you want an easy commute to Charlottesville but the peace and quite of the mountains.

Quiet and Beautiful Setting

This is a clean, well-appointed, comfortable rental located on a beautiful property with mountain views. There are walking paths through the wildflower meadow, which our dog enjoyed exploring. The hosts respect your privacy but are available to answer questions and share information about the area. They have taken care to include many kitchen conveniences. The bed is comfortable and the heated shower is an added bonus. We enjoyed our extended stay here.

worth the drive

Let me beginning by saying that though this is approximately a 30 min. drive from the UVA garage it is well worth it. It is a scenic route with lovely views (lots of farmland and trees). Also very little traffic. It is located in the basement of the home but the owners do their very best to keep the noise to a minimum. You can tell it was redone recently and with beautiful details. There is a heater built into the shower (such a nice detail). There is no stove but there is a small two spot stove top. The owners are very accommodating and really put a lot of care into the place and their guest. The owners give you your space but are always available to you as well. They check in regularly but do not invade your space. I just can't say enough about how beautiful the place is and how wonderful the owners are. The place is definitely worth it. It really is a beautiful place. The only downfall is it is a no service area but they have a powerful WIFI that allows streaming/phone w/o issue.
