My Stay at the Perch
I stayed at The Perch for about five months and truly couldnt have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home, and I was genuinely sad when my stay came to an end. The full kitchen was great, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the porch was one of my favorite places to relax. The neighborhood itself is cozy, quiet, and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The owners are amazing hosts as they are kind, attentive, and always making sure you have everything you need. I couldnt have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend!
Amazing Natural Light
You can't go wrong with the Perch. The main room is spacious, the kitchen and bathroom are both well-sized, and you have a small private outdoor space with a table and a chair. The apartment has incredible light throughout the day. Short walk to a Whole Foods, a couple coffee shops, and a few restaurants (Pocket Pub was my favorite). Eve and David are friendly, responsive, and have a beautiful garden. Just book it!
Look no further, this is the spot!
The Perch is a gem in one of Portlands best neighborhoods. The cozy room is quiet and has a beautiful view of the garden and is close to great food, activities, and entertainment. The hosts are incredibly kind, attentive and quick to address any needs. The location is fantastic. Irvington is very safe at all hours, centrally located, and walkable to Whole Foods and excellent restaurants. You can easily reach any part of the city within 15 minutes! Street parking is also plentiful, which is rare in Portland. I also felt very safe going for walks at night. The space is incredibly cozy and well equipped with a private entrance, fast WiFi, a dishwasher, and a fully stocked kitchen. I work remotely and had no issues with the internet. The bed is also super comfortable. A delightful surprise was the two friendly cats, Spooner and Winston, who often wandered the garden. Though the space is pet-free, seeing them outside was a treat. Ill miss them! I highly recommend this wonderful spot!
Perfect place to Perch in Portland
I rented The Perch for a three-month stay, and it was the perfect place for everything I needed. The apartment was beautifully decorated, the kitchen had a full fridge and stove (which was a big bonus), and the clawfoot tub was a respite after a long day. And there was so much beautiful natural light! There was always parking on the street for my car, but so many things were just a short walk away--Whole Foods, restaurants, coffee and a frequent bus (# 8). It was also just nice to walk around the tree-lined neighborhood. Eve was also responsive and communicative throughout my stay. The Perch is Perfect!
Perfect Summer Stay!
I stayed at the Perch for the summer while I worked in downtown Portland. The Irvington neighborhood is safe, nice for walks/runs, filled with beautiful historic homes, and a short drive away from the "major" streets people frequent for shops/restaurants (i.e. Mississippi, Alberta Arts District, N Williams, etc.). The east side of Portland is a foodie's paradise. I never had a problem with parking, and always parked my car on the street in front of, or very close to the house. There's a Whole Foods less than a mile away (plus a sushi and Vietnamese restaurant I loved to go to), or a large Fred Meyer an extremely short drive away. My commute downtown was a breeze as "the 8" bus line frequently ran downtown everyday (it was a safe route as well). E & D were wonderful--great communicators and kind/welcoming. Laundry is located inside the main house, and coordinating with E or D to let me in to get some laundry done usually didn't take too much planning in advance. The property is so serene and calm--during the summer E & D's fruit trees and gardens are in full bloom! Their two very friendly cats, Spooner and Winston, roam around the property and occasionally said hello--they're adorable. I was really lucky to have been able to stay here!
Quiet and Cozy
Wonderful space up private steps, centrally located in a beautiful neighborhood. Great walking neighborhood, about 8-10 minutes in any direction from shops, restaurants, grocery stores etc. I like that on lazy days I was 2 blocks from a nice coffee shop. E an D were wonderful, helpful and quiet. The side garden was just greening up when I left. I was very comfortable here!
Comfortable & Convenient
The Perch is a lovely, private, quiet space that has everything you need to feel at home. For a small studio, it is comfortable and cozy with big windows that let in tons of natural light (but handy blackout curtains block the light when needed). The kitchen is well-equipped with good storage. Parking was always easy and if you don't have a car, public transit is convenient and Whole Foods and other stores/restaurants/coffee shops are an easy short walk. The neighborhood is one of the gems of Portland with big trees and lots of sidewalks to explore the area. I always felt safe and the owners are responsive and thoughtful. Highly recommend The Perch as a place to land in NE Portland!
Cozy Stay
I stayed as a travel nurse there and the host were very accomodating to me as the travel company bailed on me the day before I was suppose to start and the host was patient with me while I secured a new assignment. I was very greatful they were willing to work with me in the event I was not able to secure another assignment. They were very helpful in recommending areas to eat and visit while in the area. The neighborhood is very safe and conveniently located. The host is very timely in responding to any needs or concerns. I would highly recommend the private perch to someone visiting the area.
Perfect Safe Stay in a Gorgeous Area
My college age daughter had the pleasure of staying at The Perch for her senior internship in Portland. Eve was an exceptional hostess and made communication easy and seamless. The accommodation was perfect, exactly as per the pictures in a beautiful home on a gorgeous street. Spooner and Winston were welcoming as others have said and the gardens are spacious and beautiful. We had read about the Irvington area before arriving but even so, the architecture, landscaping, and trees were just extraordinary. Its easy to get everywhere from Irvington and a few bus routes were walking distance away while many people biked. The neighbors were friendly and so nice that walks were fun for enjoying the neighborhood and striking up conversations. Its truly a special home in the trees away from home and E and D have made it a special place to welcome visitors. M loved her time there and we are most appreciative to have experienced it.
Portland
I had a wonderful time at the Irvington apartment, such a beautiful garden and area all around. Had much of everything that I needed & within reach of other wonderful neighborhoods. E was a wonderful host, kind, and empathetic. If only I could stay longer.
Private Perch Review
This is a super comfortable studio. Perfect space for one person and enough room for all belongings. Located in a safe area with plentiful street parking. Hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating to all and any needs. As a solo female travel nurse I would definitely recommend this area to anyone working in the Portland area. No longer than a 10-15 minute drive to OHSU. Extremely walkable area, car felt safe all the time, especially with having the hosts and neighbors in the area.
A lovely place!
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at the Perch! We found it to be a great fit for two people who are active and minimalistic. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bathroom was also great (the clawfoot tub is a plus). The bed was very comfortable and the A/C was effective. E and D were awesome hosts and available to answer any questions. Not to mention, their cats were adorable and super friendly! We wish we could have stayed longer, especially since the neighborhood was absolutely a dream. So many great restaurants and shops nearby. Highly recommend!
Perch yourself here!
This is a comfy place in a good neighborhood close to popular places. Definitely recommend it for 1 person but can be done with two people that are minimalist. E and her Husband are very welcoming and friendly. They're available to answer and help at any time needed. I love that the place has full size refrigerator and a full bathroom. Highly Recommend!
