Filthy, overpriced, barely stocked
Place the was absolutely filthy. We arranged the rental prior to start date at hospital, and at first we it just needed a little cleaning, but everything was just gross. Dirty floors, dog hair everywhere, mild caulked over in the bathroom. Kitchen supplies, caked with food, back yard full of dog poop. Bath linens were literally falling apart. We are traveling medical professionals, not frat kids. We paid a cleaning deposit, security deposit plus rent and spent hours cleaning to make it livable. We left after 3 weeks, landlord never even responded to our notice of leaving. It's sad people think traveling medical professionals are people to be taken advantage of or a quick buck to be made. Avoid this rental.
Old but Good
If you like quality and attentive host then this is a good pick for you. The host were always available if I texted and one even plowed the driveway for us without being asked. The house is next to a main road which made it great for a winter stay, as that road was always plowed early. The home itself is pretty old. The eggshell finish of certain areas along with the natural lighting can give a sort of yellow tint to some rooms. The house itself is clean but I can see why someone might be turned out but this. The downstairs shower is maybe the only downside to this place as I was never comfortable using it but I dont think it was bad enough to give less than 5 stars. All in all I had a solid 6 months here.
photogenic midtown bungalow
This property photographs well and has some charming and cute decor elements, but was in need of a deep cleaning. It was very easy to book this property through messaging feature on Furnished Finder and then text messages and signed lease through email (docusign) and payments made through venmo. I was assured the property was ready for my arrival and the keys were left in the mailbox. Unfortunately, I was beyond disappointed in the unit because It was not cleandust and animal hair covered the furnishings and bedding animal hair even inside the dresser drawers. Comforters appeared soiled and beds were not made. Mattresses were worn and appeared soiled. Bathroom is updated but is a very tight fitbath tub and vanity separated by just enough room to stand (which was not readily apparent in photos on FF or video from landlord). Shower curtain and liner appeared soiled. Refrigerator is older and the fridge and freezer doors were sticky and appeared soiled. The freeze seal was ill- fitting and hanging down. Kitchen faucet made an awful noise when used unless is was fully opened. Shower head was over directed towards the shower curtain and would drench the bathroom if not very careful. The 2nd bath in the basement is just a toilet in one area and a shower stall in another area. Bath towels left in linen closet were thread bare and at end of use. The neighborhood seems to be in transition. Many of the homes appear to be rentals and there is a moderate amount of foot traffic from busy 41 street. On a positive notethe home was well stocked with cleaning supplies, toilet tissue, paper towels and laundry supplies and even coffee pods. I asked that the landlord waive the 15 day notice and allow me to pay for days occupied because of the state of the unit. The landlord declined and also insisted that written notice to vacate be sent by mail to her residence (even though all other correspondence was electronic). So, I not only paid for days occupied, but for an additional 19 days during which the unit was empty. This was my first FF booking and I learned several VERY expensive almost $2000 worth of lessons that I may have avoided by: viewing in person before booking or making any rent or security payments. I also learned that photos and even video can be misleading. I think that with closer attention to the cleaning and with a few furnishing upgrades or replacements this could be an acceptable short term rental.
