Apartment in Portland, Oregon
Landlord Tenure: 8 years, 2 months
TL,DR: cute, quiet, private, comfortable, good location; shared laundry room with extra fridge for you, no full-sized stove, no access to backyard. Dont hesitate to message or text. :)
This is a fun, freshly-finished basement unit (literally early 2022) between Powell and Division along Cesar Chavez. The unit has a separate private entrance and your living areas are not directly below higher-traffic areas upstairs (your b...

My Travel Contract Didn't Work Out, but My Experience was Lovely
Todd was so understanding and communicative when my contract was abruptly canceled. Understanding and reasonable with such an unfortunate situation, while also returning my security deposit. My contract didn't work out, but would have loved to stay in this accommodation.
Best place in PDX
Todd and Rebecca were AMAZING, to say the least. My pup Lola and I absolutely loved our stay. It didn't feel like a basement at all and was the perfect amount of space. Their communication was awesome and if I ever had an issue or questions, they responded right away. Being a single female living in a new city, I felt extremely safe here. They have cute pups upstairs that you could hear from time to time running around but they are super upfront about that (it didn't bother me one bit). There were never any issues sharing the washer/dryer and it was in a perfect mutual space. They truly went above and beyond to help me in multiple ways and I cannot recommend them enough. They helped out a struggling night nurse with her new puppy when I worked and of course, Lola adored them. While my contract was unfortunately cancelled in PDX, Todd was kind enough to let me shorten my lease one month early. He and Rebecca were so accommodating to a very difficult situation and helped in any way they could. They are truly the coolest and most awesome humans. Lola and I are so grateful! P.S. the tub is fantastic
Very cozy and cute
Off street parking! On a relatively busy street, but I never had problems sleeping while working night shift. There is a bus line near the property and lots of restaurants/shops/grocery stores within walking distance. I enjoyed it and would stay again if in the area
Great basement apartment in Portland
The property owners are great people I enjoyed renting from them. it is probably one of the better rentals that I stayed at from Furnished Finders. The kitchen and living room are a little small but very usable. The kitchen doesnt have an oven but they do have an air fryer. I hardly ever use the oven, so it was no problem for me. But having a stove top and vent hood was definitely a plus. The restaurant was very spacious, the shower may seem kind of small if youre a big person, but it worked very well for me. The bedroom is a good size with great storage Space. They have a big laundry room and great wash and dryer with the extra refrigerator inside the laundry room. There is more storage space in the laundry room also if needed. I believe the landlord give you that option to store M things in the laundry room if you need to. Parking is great, for me anytime you dont have to park on the street as a plus.
Cold, Damp Basement
Owners are unfriendly. Never spoke to us face to face. They use an inaccurate spy app to monitor use of the shared washer & dryer. We were chastised for doing more laundry than actually done. ("You did 5 loads!!! Um, no.) Their 2 dogs bark incessantly. When not barking, their feet scratch inches above your head. There is no oven. We made due with the sad little air fryer but were shamed & chastised via text for preparing fish. They'd send mean complaint texts, then childishly block us to prevent dialog or problem solving. The humidity mid summer was typically around 70% down there. We had to vigilantly spray the bathroom daily or mold would quickly carpet the surfaces. Maybe a proper ventilation system would solve the cooking odor & humidity problem? The location near Division was good, but Chavez is a really busy street to pull on to or even walk. "Campers" would often be sleeping on the grounds of the church next-door but they caused no problems. This place is worth about $1750/mo.
Cute, Comfortable, Great Company
First of all - the basement is cute. It's not a "basement" if you know what I mean - more natural light than some houses in the area, and excellent thought in construction to make it quiet (you can't hear street noise at all). All of the amenities you need for a medium-term rental and then some (check the bathtub!). The absolute most clutch part of the property isn't just the adorable space, but the people who own it. Todd and Rebeca are wonderful people. They're funny, they're engaging, they're friendly, they're responsive, they're communicative. They'll give you whatever type of space you want at the property but are equally down to have a beer and chat about life. They responded nearly immediately to any concerns we had (honestly, it was like, seconds), and generally went above and beyond to make sure we felt like we had our own space. Come as strangers, leave as friends is an old cliche adage, but totally applies here. Can't recommend highly enough.
