Didn't feel safe

I would not consider this a good neighborhood! There was trash all over the street and I saw rats on numerous occasions. There were people walking about all hours of the day/night. A neighbor across the street likes to open his front door and blast music. The walls are paper thin, you can hear literally everything happening outside. A smoke alarm battery in the house next to me started chirping a week and a half into my stay and still wasn't fixed by the time I moved out at the end of the month. It drove me nuts. The heat/AC is controlled by the apartment under you, so you have no say in the temp of your apt. I was constantly freezing. There are no electrical outlets in the bathroom and no coffee maker. On my 4th day there I texted the owner and said it wasn't working bc I didn't feel safe. He kept my entire months rent AND my security deposit for breaking the lease early. I moved out early after teenagers got into a fistfight in the street and cops were called. no thank you!
