I have just completed a very enjoyable 7 week stay at this property (so I am surprised by the review left by someone else whose stay overlapped mine. I had a completely opposite experience from the two most recent reviews posted.) My hosts were very gracious and accommodating, the room was lovely and set up with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The residential neighborhood is very quiet and still minutes from the beaches, shopping, and downtown. The dedicated off street parking was a dream. There is a communal kitchen available for use, and one expects to see other people there in a communal living situation. The other tenants I met were all very pleasant and never made me feel uncomfortable. I felt very secure and safe, and greatly enjoyed my stay.

Don't put your safety at risk here. If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would. I also have all the texts between Dennis and I where he admitted to knowing the situation, drug use, and hostility of the tenants on the third floor, yet didn't care for anyone's safety and still moved me in due to needing the money. This place should absolutely be shut down on furnished finders end. Upon moving in I was told by Dennis that he is looking for traveling healthcare professionals and due to the bureaucracy associated with starting an assisted living (which was his goal for the home), he decided against assisted living and rented out rooms. Dennis placed me on the third level. He lives on the first, two elderly live on the second floor, with another seperate living space with its own bathroom usually take by someone more long term. The drug use on the third floor is rampant. Previous review from Feb 2025 about Dennis sitting at the kitchen table endlessly really did make the whole thing uncomfortable. I ended up leaving after one week. Physically, was only 4 days, but I was really worried about the erratic behavior of the meth abuse. After someone strung out on meth starts talking about a gun and shooting up the house in the public living space, it's not worth it to me. Dennis failed to tell me what all had happened, multiple times police showed up just prior to me moving in. He tried backtracking once I caught on and tried passing the blame on the tenants saying due to landloed/Tennant laws it's easier to wait them out and they leave, than go through the eviction process... Police reports are public record, do your own research before moving in. I called the police to escort me in to get my remaining things. As a combat vet, I have never felt so unsafe in my personal living space. Cheap living is not worth the constant feeling of uneasiness about your safety. Unfortunately this space is listed on multiple other sites and not exclusively to FF. I truly hope no one physically gets hurt, but by seeing the review before mine, this has been going on for much longer than Dennis will lead you to believe. If you're lucky enough to get a refund, he will ask daily for another day, saying he needs time for the money to clear the bank. Terrible business practices all the way around. Would not wish this living situation on my worst enemy...

It is with great disappointment and sadness that I even have to respond to this defamatory, threatening, inflammatory, and disrespectful tirade. Those terms are taken directly from the Furnished Finder Review Policy which states that no review shall be allowed that violates any of those terms. I have vehemently protested to the Furnished Finder management of this and thus far they have refused to remove the review, claiming that the individual has the right to his opinion. I have no problem with a negative review that sticks to the facts of what the individual believes actually occurred but this review goes far beyond the parameters of decency or accuracy. Keep in mind this individual was in our home for 4.5 days. I have an entire text message thread that is the antithesis of what he has written here. I am not going to post it here, but I will absolutely share it with anyone interested in renting a room from us and needs clarification on what exactly occurred during those 4.5 days. I will admit, in retrospect, I made a mistake in allowing this individual to move in prior to the other 2 tenants on that floor moving out but I did so because this individual wanted to stop paying for hotel rooms and the tenant who had just vacated that room (a physical therapist who also came from Furnished Finder) informed me that while she heard yelling and screaming on occasion from the other 2 tenants, she never heard talk of the type this individual says he heard, and she was never in fear for her safety. I also let him in because it was only going to be a 5 day overlap as both the other tenants had given notice at the beginning of the month and both of them did vacate without incident. I will add that we have rented to approximately 10 travel nurses over the past 3 years in our home, not one of which has ever left us a negative review. In addition to that, we operate one room as an Airbnb and we are Super hosts with over 90% + 5 star reviews. It is always our intent to serve our guests and tenants with the utmost care which we have been doing at this location for more than 6 years. I absolutely welcome any inquiries and the opportunity to provide the evidence that supports our stance.

I regret to share my negative experience during my two-month stay at this property listed on Furnished Finder. Safety Concerns I faced serious safety issues, including a tenant in Room 1 reportedly involved in illegal drug activities and an elderly resident who passed away in Room 2, causing persistent unpleasant odors. Living Conditions The owner frequently occupied the dining table until late at night, making the kitchen feel uncomfortable for other tenants. Move-out Process At the end of my tenancy, the owner refused my request for a final walk-through. Three weeks later, he deducted from my security deposit without any written explanation or invoices, which seems illegal. He charged me for routine maintenance items I had already paid for and ignored receipts for garden work I completed myself. In my 12 years of renting experience, this has been my worst experience. I advise potential tenants to exercise caution when considering this property.

Only now am I seeing this very vicious review from Ms. Yang. I will point out the details she conveniently left out of her review. The fact is we bent over backwards when she moved in to make her safe and comfortable and to accommodate her 2 cats and her excessive amount of storage she required that took up part of our kitchen and a living area located on the 1st floor. We never charged for any of that. We went over and above anything we had ever done with any other tenant to provide better lighting on the outside of her room to enhance her safety. Our home is located in a very safe neighborhood and we have never had any safety issues emanating from outside of the home. She was very demanding about everything to accommodate her desires and her cats. We actually hired 2 different handymen to install a cat door in the entrance door to the room from the outside. She did pay for the window but we paid for the installation and new weatherstripping for the door and painting as well as the lighting. One of her cats consistently roamed the entire house and though that was supposed to not be allowed, I did allow it because the cat was very mellow and interesting. When she vacated she took the cat door, leaving us a big hole in the main door without any notice to us. As to her complaint about safety concerns from another tenant, we did have a tenant who was being evicted for multiple reasons. The eviction process started before she moved in but, unfortunately, dragged on much longer than I would have wished because of California landlord/tenant laws that are very unfavorable to landlords. It is really unfortunate that these laws make no distinction between tenants renting a room in the landlords home vs renting a separate unit. There really needs to be a distinction for obvious reasons in my opinion. However, I never heard of any direct threat from that tenant to Ms. Yang at any time. It is the only eviction we have ever had to do in over 6 years in this location. As to the tenant who passed away, yes, she was an elderly lady who did pass away in the home after a 2 month deterioration because she gave up going to dialysis after the death of her own daughter in another part of town. My wife aided this woman in her final 2 months by helping her be cleaned and comfortable and keeping her room tidy. We never had any complaints of any odors coming from her room at any time. When she passed away, her body was taken by the funeral parlor the same day. In regards to my using the dining room table for work late into the night, I do plead guilty. I am making alterations for that, but, once again, I have never had complaints from any other tenant about it. Finally, in regards to a final walk through and the amount withheld from her security deposit, it was $200 total. We charged her $60 for an extra day of rent as she moved on the 1st of the new month. We charged her $100 for cleaning as she did absolutely no cleaning whatsoever of the room when she moved out. It was spic and span when she moved in, The final $40 was a small portion of the amount we had spent installing her cat door as she required. I had not given her an accounting of the charges because I expected her to come back for a walk through and to pick up her mail. She has never returned and there is still mail here for her. She did not leave a forwarding address. All in all, while I am very sorry her tenancy was unsatisfactory for her, I do believe her review grossly over dramatizes the actual experience and completely ignores all the effort that was made by my wife and son and myself to fulfill her requirements. There was no final walk through because she left late at night with her movers and did not schedule a time for a final walk through the next day. Nonetheless, I am willing to go over the deductions and to give her the mail if she will just schedule a time that works for the both of us.

I stayed at this property for 4 months while doing a nursing contract. I really liked having a private bathroom and private entrance. The owners, D and J, were very pleasant and quick to respond when I had questions. The other housemates were respectful and quiet. The neighborhood is safe, and about a 5 minute drive to the beach and to the Capitola Mall, Traders Joes, Whole Foods and other stores and restaurants. I definitely would stay here again .

Quiet street in good neighborhood. Room is comfortable and private bathroom is nice. Plenty of space to put your stuff. Private entrance offering privacy, and parking on premises. Owners are very nice and helpful. I would stay here again. I recommend this place.
