Cottage
The space itself was cute and located in a nice area, which I initially appreciated. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to several major issues. While I was at work, my car was severely damaged on the street — the entire rim was taken off and the bumper was hit, which raised serious safety concerns. Inside the rental, there was also an ongoing ant problem in the shower that was never properly addressed, and no effort was made to compensate for the inconvenience. Although the listing claimed to be pet-friendly, I was unexpectedly asked to leave early because of my cat, which was stressful and unfair. During the winter, the unit was extremely cold due to poor insulation, and running the heater was the only way to stay warm. This led to utility bills in the high $200s, yet the landlord only covered $75. Overall, while the place looks nice, I wouldn’t recommend staying here in colder months or with a pet.
Wonderful
This is a gem of a cottage and a gem of an owner.I stayed here for a month in the Fall of 2022 and couldnt have asked for a better spot. D is a wonderful owner/host and was welcoming and attentive to anything I needed. I loved the uniqueness of this place - you can tell D worked very hard to get it just right. West Seattle also has lots to offer - sooo many restaurants (D has great suggestions if you want one) and things to do, including Seattles best beach just up the road, and a beautiful park just a few miles away that has amazing views along the water and even Mt. Rainer on a clear day. Access to all things downtown Seattle is easy, either by car or public transit or water taxi (loved the water taxi! It operates during the summer and into Oct. Really a great way to go downtown). I worked dayshift at a hospital in Renton which was an easy drive. Traffic was not bad early in the morning - never once had a problem going or coming from work. I cant recommend Ds cottage enough!
