Beware landlord refusing to return security deposit

Gave landlord 30 days written notice via email. Sent two emails. I have proof they were sent with the date and time they were sent. Landlord is claiming "he did not receive them". Additionally when I moved in, I had to clean the entire place myself. The floors had food on them and were dirty. Inside the fridge and cupboards had crumbs everywhere. Big ant problem. On a very loud double yellow street.
