Garden Serenity
My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at Aiko's Furnished Finder property in McKinleyville recently. Our stay was incredible: the space was comfortable, peaceful and quiet. The furnishings and décor were lovely, the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, and the mattress was amazing --- best sleep I’ve had in years! My favorite part of our stay was walking through the garden, overwhelming in color and beauty, birds chirping from every direction, and a hummingbird displaying its arcing dance each day. We also enjoyed taking walks in the neighborhood, meeting friendly neighbors and dog walkers. The area felt safe and accessible. Overall, the host was wonderful and we highly recommend staying at Aiko's Cozy Refuge.
Quiet spot close to outdoors stuff
Place is in a nice, quiet area. Aiko put a lot of effort into the house, looks nice and is in good condition. Plenty of space for all my gear - I had two surfboards + wetsuits, and climbing gear, didn’t have an issue with space. Deck is handy for drying too as it’s partially covered. Whole area is very quiet. You do have a shared space in the kitchen, but we never heard each other at home, and sharing the kitchen was never an issue. Biggest draw is access to the outdoors, you’re close to just about anything you’d want to do, Arcata is only 10-15 minutes away, and Eureka 20-30, so you still have town nearby.
The perfect landing place
Staying with A for the past month has been wonderful in so many ways. The space is huge, super comfortable and cozy, & was very clean upon arrival. The yoga & meditation room was one of my favorite aspects with so much space to practice and sprawl out! The house is tastefully & minimally decorated, contributing to the overall serenity & cleanliness. The kitchen is incredible with top-notch appliances & plenty of space to move around/do your cooking. I was also so grateful to have a parking space & W/D! And finally - A herself is really what takes living here from great to spectacular. She was the most generous, thoughtful, accommodating, & caring host. She made me feel welcome not only in her home but in this new community. A is the type of person who genuinely cares about the well-being & needs of her resident - there were so many instances where she went out of her way to make sure I felt supported & thought of! I cannot recommend her home and A as a host highly enough!
Best place to stay!!
Nothing, but good things to say about A and her home! Starting off with her good customer service of making sure you (as a tenant) are comfortable/ respects your privacy and if you needed anything fixed, she responds as soon as possible and fixes the issue in a timely manner. The home itself was one of the best places I've ever stayed at because it was a huge space, especially for 1 person to live at. The neighborhood is pretty safe and quiet. The house is near by local grocery stores, gyms, and a wide variety of food places, so it was really convenient for me that I did not have to travel too far. Overall experience was a 20/10 and would stay up there again if I have another travel assignment up at that area. P.S. if you're a traveling nurse/healthcare individual this place is only 8 minutes away from Mad River Hospital and there was never any traffic!
Private, Serene and Clean
I needed a furnished rental for 3 months and stayed at this shared home in McKinleyville. It really felt as though I had the house to myself -- my own apartment and private entrance. I shared the kitchen with the owner (each of us with separate locking-door entrances to the kitchen). The owner was immensely respectful of my privacy, non-intrusive, and lives her own life quietly and privately at the rear of the home on the other side of the kitchen. The house is ultra clean, and up-to-date. The kitchen is completely remodeled. The natural gas wall heater easily heats all of the living areas. And there is a washing machine and dryer located in the private bathroom. Both beds in the bedrooms are very comfortable. The street on which the house is located is a quiet cul de sac. I cant recommend this property enough. If you are looking for quiet, clean and private accommodations, and easy access to Arcata, Eureka, all of Humboldt and the Trinity Alps, this home is a gem. As is the owner!
