Private room in Hartford, Vermont
Landlord Tenure: 3 years, 8 months
This 1920s Vermont farmhouse has been in our family since the 1950s and is part of our working dairy farm. The house was completely renovated this year. You will enjoy a peaceful country setting but within easy commuting distance to three local hospitals.
perfect setting right outside of town
I enjoyed my stay here. I loved that it was outside of town. The country setting makes it so peaceful. It was my first time in a shared space. It worked out perfectly. Most of my stay it was just me and one other woman. We were both equally clean and happy. When the house was full it didn't pose a problem for me. I worked nights and had no problems sleeping. In addition the landlords were great about asking me when I needed to work. They always made sure the driveway was plowed for me. I would recommend it a friend and I would stay again.
A Taste of Farm-Life
I needed to place to stay while I was working at Dartmouth. You will be sharing the house with three other tenants if the rooms are occupied. However, there is a washer dryer, and the rooms are decently sized. The house is older, so the walls are a bit thin, and you are right across from the barn. I didn't have an issue with the cows mooing on occasion. The only thing I will say about the house that I advise anyone who is wanting to stay here about, is that it is a bit remote, in the sense that you will be driving on a dirt road to get up to the house. I stayed during the snow season for a bit, and I just have a small, compact car. Sometimes if the snow is piled up and hasn't been plowed yet, or it's very icy outside it can make it difficult to drive. So I would just let anyone know that if they are not used to driving on ice or snow, that it will be a bit of a learning curve. Either way, the house was cozy, and the night sky is beautiful from the area.
