Perfect stay
I had the most amazing time at Thomas's house! Getting to know him was the highlight of my New York experience, we had wonderful conversations, both about serious topics, both about just funny things, and he even gave very good advices about my job. I would 100 % would stay at his place if I had the opportunity to visit New York again. (And I hope we meet again, whether it will be in Budapest or in New York...) He was very respectful and considerate, he always made sure I have everything I need, I felt comfortable and safe. Considerate host and cool flatmate. The house is also very charming, the room is spacious, it was a real Brooklyn experience to stay at this townhouse. The neighbor is friendly, and the whole area is just a cool spot. The subway to get to Manhattan is very close, so as the Prospect and the Sunset park and the Greenwood cemetery, those are all in walking distance. As a female solo traveler my main aim was to stay somewhere safe, this place was perfect choice.
Highly Recommend this Beautiful Spot
I had the pleasure of staying in Thomas' house during my medical rotation at NYP Brooklyn Methodist in September 2024. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. This house is a really beautiful space. It is very clean, well-decorated, and homey. The kitchen has all of the amenities that you could need and leads into a lush back courtyard with seating that is very peaceful. The guest bathroom is also very nice. Upstairs, the guest bedroom overlooks the street but is quiet and private. You have ample space to store your things, a large smart TV, desk, and AC/fan to keep the room cool in the summer months. I had a great time relaxing there after shifts and never had trouble sleeping. Another bonus is the in-house washer and dryer so you never have to leave to wash your clothes. While situated in a relatively quiet area, the house is also only a few minutes' walk to the nearest subway station as well as local bus stops. Manhattan is very accessible via the subway lines. I also walked to and from the hospital many times, which is a bit further, but definitely doable (especially in more mild weather). You can often find a parking spot near Thomas' place if you are savvy with parallel parking, but otherwise have the ability to pay for a rented space at nearby parking garages (which is what I personally opted for). Nearby shops and restaurants are great, whether you're searching for a coffee shop or a new dinner place. The area of Brooklyn was safe, walkable, and fun. While this property itself is exceptional, the real benefit is staying with Thomas. He allows you all of the privacy that you need and never oversteps, but is a wonderful conversationalist and friend to have in Brooklyn. He is incredibly accommodating, communicative, and always willing to help. He has great recommendations for things to do in the area and is a very kind face to return to after a long day of working (or exploring)! As a solo female guest, I always felt safe during this stay, which means a lot. I was often gone odd hours for work or seeing family/friends and Thomas made sure that I got back safe so I always felt accounted for in such a big city. Similar to the earlier posting, I would happily stay here again and would recommend Thomas for anyone looking for a place in Brooklyn.
Great Place to Stay in Brooklyn
I stayed here in July while rotating at Maimonides. As far as location goes, there's a subway stop very close, so it was an easy and quick ride getting to the hospital. It was also super easy and quick catching the subway to downtown Brooklyn, out to Manhattan, and everywhere else I wanted to explore. There are also plenty of places to walk to near the neighborhood if you're looking for some quick food. For the room itself, the place is very clean and I had every amenity I needed. Thomas had even installed a new AC in the room so I had no problem staying cool during the summer. Also, the neighborhood is quiet, so I had no problem sleeping at night. Speaking of Thomas, he was a pleasure to live with! He made sure I had everything I needed and that my time was going well while I was there. I had many great conversations with him and would gladly live with him again. And if you're not the conversation type and tend to stay to yourself, then don't worry because he'll have no problem leaving you to your own devices while still stay making sure you have everything you need. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this place to those who are looking!
