Renter beware!

We signed the lease sight unseen except for the photos. There was no overhead lighting or lamps in most of the apartment which made the space dark after sunset. The kitchen was very dirty and was lacking essential supplies- no coffee maker, pots, pans, wine glasses, cooking dishes and bowls Much of the limited cookware was unusable due to being coated in old grease. Living room flooring had significant water damage. Living room/ dining room furniture was very worn, and the bedroom carpets were heavily stained with a noticeable mildew smell. 2 washer/dryer units in the basement for 18 apartments, and often out of order.The towels were threadbare and stained, The sheets did not properly fit the beds. Future renters need verbal agreements in writing and signed, as we found that verbal assurances were later denied by the management company. I would strongly suggest the owner address all these issues before signing a lease.
