Stay Away!! Bad location, old, and sketchy

Although the property is advertised as being a "House of Mercy" it is far from that. I ended up paying $400 more than advertised in what felt like a Bait and Switch. Then the pastor wanted to charge $200 for one visitor to spend the weekend. It felt very sketchy. The house itself is old with no upgrades, creaky floors and stairs, doors sticking to the frame, and the bathrooms were outdated, probably original to the house. Tenants have to provide their own toilet paper, hand soap, towels, and trash can. A week into my stay, I mentioned the area I was staying to a coworker. She immediately told me to get out of there and gave me a pocket knife to protect myself. When I called the pastor to say I felt unsafe, he tried to gaslight me and invalidate my experiences, accused me of lying about my situation, and implied that I must be hanging out with the "wrong crowd". He said I could leave but could not offer a refund. With my current financial situation, I didn't have a choice but to stay.
