Great experience
I had a really great experience at this home and with the property owner, Donna! It was my first time renting a place where I would be staying in a room in someone's home, while they are there, but Donna made it feel very welcoming. The house is very clean, organized, and in a great neighborhood that is well-connected to DC. I would highly recommend staying at this place if you find yourself in the area!
Clean & Communicative Host!
I lived with Donna for 3 months while I was a summer intern in DC. Donna was a great host, and the home was always very clean and welcoming! Donna was very communicative about when I could expect guests to be in the home, and when she needed to use certain spaces. She also was very accomodating when I had the same requests! The location of the rental was super convenient and close to main bus lines. I would definitely recommend renting with Donna if you are looking for a clean, quiet rental in a convenient location in Arlington!
I rented this house for my internship
I came to the States for the first time as an international student for my internship at the WB. I was on a tight budget but needed a private room where I could study&work late at night and a place with a convenient commute to dc. Luckily, I found this house and stayed here happily for 6 months! The location was perfect. A bus goes directly to dc, and the bus stop is close. The neighborhood felt safe, even when I returned home late after happy hours/events. The room was in excellent condition. Located on the 2nd floor and I enjoyed sunlight a lot. The house was clean and well maintained. It was clear that the landlord has a lot of experience hosting interns and students. She was considerate and always respected my personal spaces. I was able to freely use her kitchen and utensils to prepare my own meals. Having lived in university dormitories and shard apartments with roommates before, I found her to be very flexible and easygoing landlord compared to my previous housing experiences.
Terrible :)))
I rented this unit for two months. Initially, I informed the landlord that I was an international student planning to stay for two years, that I wouldn't be traveling over the summer, and that my mom would be visiting. She was very nice and welcoming at first. However, one day she unexpectedly stated that she "was not expecting a long-term lease," despite my mentioning my plans multiple times. During my stay, she frequently introduced new rules that contradicted what she had initially told me while trying to rent the room, for example, I was not allowed to have guests, my phone calls interrupted her sleeping (!!)..etc. Her communication was often passive-aggressive, saying one thing but meaning another. On a positive note, the house was neat and clean, and the location is great. However, I could not recommend living with this landlord based on my experience, or at least not for the long term.
