Chaotic Stay

The landlord is "nice" but also disorganized, overshares and shirks responsibility. Despite coordinating move-in details early, the unit was not ready. This was due to poor planning and execution, but as I quickly learned, he would only offer excuses (my friend didn't show, the cleaners I hired took too long). It took 2 weeks for us to get basic kitchenware (cups, dishes). As the other review mentioned, the landlord's washing machine is still broken. He kept trying to use the washing machine in our unit (leaving a 3 minute voice memo explaining his life circumstances that make it difficult to use the laundromat 4 blocks away). It also took more than the allotted week to return the security deposit (despite there being no issues). I had to continually follow up in order to get my security deposit back (returned via multiple payments). Pictures are accurate and the location is convenient. As a person who values privacy, the experience was not worth it.

My boyfriend & I stayed here for 1 month. We signed a sublease contract prior to moving in. The unit itself was exactly how the pictures appear. It was nice & had everything you needed. The lessor was friendly & usually quick to respond. However, he frequently reached out to use our washer/dryer because his did not work in his unit. This persisted throughout the month we stayed here as his never got fixed. The lessor was kind & willing to offer us things of his to use if we needed. Our biggest complaint was regarding the refundable security deposit. The contract states the $1000 deposit is to be returned within 7 days of lease termination. We were in constant communication with the lessor who kept deferring when the money would be returned to us. After 2 weeks of not receiving our deposit, we became concerned with what he spent our deposit on. It should have been held in case of damage, not spent for personal matters. We finally received the deposit 16 days after lease termination.
