Wasted Money Due to Lack of Communication
I had a really frustrating experience communicating with this landlord. There were multiple issues with the background check process, including errors with the website she required us to use. Because of this, I had each of my roommates apply as well, and we each paid $50. Adding up quickly. We were never given a clear deadline, and we were doing our best to work through the issues on her end. It’s also worth noting that we’re all students, so this was a significant amount of money for us. At no point were we told that other applicants were being seriously considered or that we were at risk of losing the opportunity. After spending around $250 total on applications (which she said would go toward our deposit), I even had my dad co-sign and complete the process. Right after that, she informed us that she had chosen someone else. Overall, the process felt disorganized and unfair, and I wish there had been clearer communication and transparency from the start.
5 mom stay turned to 15 months!
This is a great rental with updated renovations and plenty of space. We loved our stay in Union Hill and Laura and Cesar are always ready to assist when needed. We only needed help once with the ac and they were quick to have it fixed that day. Main bedroom is very large and lots of light. The master bath is clean and we actually renovated our new house with some of the same ideas. :) There is a small backyard with chairs or you can sit on the front porch. The main street is pretty busy, so we used a noise machine at night; however, you can also use the 2nd bedroom as your main bedroom if you want it quieter. The third bedroom was perfect for my husband's office, but also large enough for someone to stay in. Plenty of close space. Also, Fat Rabbit Bakery is on the corner, so throw on your sneakers and walk across the street and get spoiled.
Perfect place for VCU nurses
This home is in an excellent location, just a few minute drive to VCU medical center. Some parts of the neighborhood are a bit run down, but the home is in excellent shape and updated beautifully. One large vehicle can fit comfortably in the back and there is always room on the street for any additional vehicles. L, the landlord, is wonderful. She is easy to talk to and always responsive. A wall is shared with the neighbors, but even sleeping during the day and working at night, they are always quiet. The street traffic is a little loud, but nothing a fan or sound machine won't cancel out. There is plenty of room for storage in the bedrooms and main level office. We have no complaints about our stay here.
