A peaceful place to stay

I stayed at the cottage for around 7 months and loved my time there. It’s in a great location, ~10-15 minute drive to access downtown Redding and less than 10 minute drive to access BLM hiking and mountain bike trails. The cottage is set away from the main road so sleeping is very peaceful. Highlights of the space for me were a kitchen great for cooking, a tub to soak in, and the outdoor shower. Both the front and back yards offer complete privacy. If you keep the bird feeders stocked, you’ll have constant visitors. The native plants attract all sorts of pollinators. If you find yourself in the area for work and are looking for peace and quiet with great access, this cottage fits the bill. I really appreciated the great communication with the landlords as well, they are a lovely and thoughtful couple.

Ideal home away from home

I cannot say enough good about my stay in this tranquil, cozy cottage. I highly recommend this spot. I came to Redding looking to recharge and wanted to find a place that was safe and clean while I attended some local conferences and ventured around beautiful California. I got that and so much more with this place. A real gem. It was very clean and I always felt safe even as a single woman with my little girl along with me; it was set back from town but not too far away from downtown and stores. It was easy to get anywhere I needed to go while still feeling close to nature. The neighbors are great and the landlords were delightful + very accommodating. The place is decorated to really make you feel at home, and it had everything we needed and more for a very comfortable several month stay (fully stocked kitchen including an instant pot, board games, linens, drawers, hangers, washer and dryer etc). The garden in the front yard had frequent hummingbird visitors and lots of other birds we enjoyed watching. it was quiet and peaceful and also a great place to have a friend or two over to sit by the fire pit or chat in the living room. This place checks all the boxes and is a real home away from home. I highly recommend a stay here for whatever brings you out to Redding.

The Placer Cottage Review

HIGHLY RECOMMENDespecially if you enjoy being a birdwatcher, seeing deer and horse, and stargazing! The property was 7 minutes from away from Mercy Medical Center and 10 minutes from downtown. The place was very clean when we got there. There are clear instructions on moving in and moving out which is really nice. I love that you have separate bins for recycling and trash. The kitchen was well equipped with some spices already available. If youre a fan of cooking with Instant Pot, theres one available for use. The living room had a tv and comfortable couch and recliner. The bedroom had a chest of drawers for clothes and more room for clothes to hang your things in the laundry room adjacent to the bedroom. It was so nice having a washer and dryer in the unit! Also as a plus, a grill and a fire pit is available for use outside which is nice after a long day at work.

Peaceful & Quiet

This place was amazing! Close enough to get to work in 5-6 minutes but far enough outside of town to get the peace and quiet. Beautiful landscaping and furnishings, and well stocked with appliances and dishes as well as a charcoal grill! So many nice extra touches! Deer visit the backyard regularly too! There was nothing not to love about this property. Would 100x stay again! Landlords were friendly and reachable but respectful of privacy. Highly recommend this property if in the area! Wish I was staying longer!
