Trouble with Security Deposit Return & Check Out

I wouldn’t stay here again. You can hear neighbors’ normal conversations through the walls, plus gunshots nearby and frequent sirens. The bigger issue was the landlord. Security deposit returned 27 days later (12 days past the 15-day requirement) with an unjust deduction. I communicated my checkout plan and asked how to avoid fees—no reply. I followed up multiple times to confirm everything and get my deposit back. No response until 11 days later, only after I said I’d file a report. She said she hadn’t even been to the property. I cleaned before leaving and left unused items neatly, asking if that was okay—no reply. She later claimed items weren’t put back and charged for a deep clean. Given her lack of response and my attempts to handle things properly, that charge—especially at that amount—was not justified. No communication, just a deduction and “too bad.”
