Landlord Kept My Deposit and Ignored My Messages
The landlord promised to return my deposit within 30 days, but didnt respond to my calls or messages until after that deadline. Under California law, deposits must be returned within 21 days. I had already paid him $355 for extra nights, yet he still deducted that amount from my deposit double-charging me. He admitted it was a mistake but never refunded the money. He also charged me for missing or broken glassware, despite the fact that I have proof I left everything in place. In total, I received only $255 out of my $800 deposit, with $65 being listed for electricity, yet formal written breakdown was provided. Communication was poor, and my concerns were ignored.
Not Transparent Unclean Unit, No Privacy, and Delayed/Incomplete Refund
I stayed at this property and had a very poor experience with the landlord. The unit was dusty and not properly cleaned before move-in. There was dust in the corners, curtains covered with furry pet hair, old piled groceries bag left in the pantry, and glassware coated in oil and dust. He charged cleaning fee yet the cleaning is poorly done, supplies were unorganized and out in the open, with no cabinets to store them, and no storage for my own clothes. I had to live out of my luggage. The only closet open was shared with the landlords towels and extra supplies, making the space feel less private. I cleaned and maintained the unit daily; mopping and keeping it in better shape than I found it. My husband even repaired the broken heater and door during our stay, without asking for anything in return.
Slum Lord - Roaches,Spiders, flying insects everywhere inside
This place is infested with tons of bugs and the LL makes no effort to maintain the property. I had spiders nesting in the couch and crawling on and next to me! It looks Nothing like the pictures, the outside is overgrown with trash and dog sh*t all over. The windows have no screen or ones with holes so anything can get in. There's no furniture to put your stuff in, he turned the closet doors into kitchen floating shelves (but didn't bother to remove the handles-looks ridiculous and cheap) there's giant holes in the walls that he covered with pictures Your suitcase has to act as a dresser to hold your clothes, but it's on the floor and roaches are crawling all over it. POS George then kept my security after I complained constantly to try and get him to fix stuff. He stated that I went over on utilities" even though they are supposed to be included. Don't believe the other reviews, he asks for 5 stars before returning a deposit. Stay Away - it's not worth the price!! Zero Stars!!!
Absolutely perfect for us! Doesnt get much better.
I loved my stay at this place. Tons of privacy, huge yard, two bedrooms, large living rooms and great kitchen appliances. You can get right into this place and make it home with little to no effort. The landlord is respectful and response quickly. I would highly recommended this place to anyone looking for a wide open private and comfortable stay. If you want to experience Joshua tree and the high desert this is the place for you.
Great home in a great location
The home is in a great location, walkable to many shops and restaurants. I need a place to stay for a month while working in 29 Palms, and this was the perfect spot! G was an incredible landlord and quick to respond with any issues.
