Beware of this Slumlord!!!!

From the start, I had issues with this landlord. He charged me TWICE for a background check on Keycheck, then acted clueless. He refused to let me view the unit before renting, claiming no one was theredespite it having a code for entry. When I arrived, it was NOT properly furnished. Pics showed bedding and towelsnone were provided. Bed frames were broken, mattresses filthy, and the house a MESS. Dining table had 2 chairs. Couch and TV were monopolized by other tenants. My food was stolen. Alex ignored safety issues. Neighbors partied daily and nearly burned the place down. I had no key to my room, so I switched rooms. It took a month to fix the lock. The front door was broken into and took 3 weeks to repair. NO smoke detectors in rooms. Most hallway lights were out. Internet was down my last monthAlex did nothing. A tenant ended up paying for it. AFTER ALL THAT, THE LEAST HE COULD DO WAS GIVE ME MY FULL DEPOSIT BACK.

Id like to clarify a few important points. First, I did not charge you twice for a background check. Background checks are processed directly through Furnished Finder/Keycheck, and landlords have no control over how many times an applicant submits or pays for their screening. Second, you chose to stay in the property for over six months, which indicates the unit was suitable for long-term living. When you moved out, I requested the return of your room key several times. You confirmed it was left inside, but it was not there. You later suggested a roommate may have taken it, but there was no evidence or reason for this. Because the key was not returned, I had to change the lock, and the cost was deducted from your deposit. The remainder was refunded to you. As for the condition of the home, the property was clean, furnished, and functional when you moved in. Other tenants were also living there without raising such concerns. I do take all maintenance and safety issues seriously and address them as they are reported. I regret if your expectations were not met, but the deposit handling and the condition of the home were in line with normal rental standards.
