This property is cozy getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city nestled between Wilmington and Xenia. This is an older farm house that has been renovated and given some of the luxuries of modern time, yet it still keeps that country home feel. The property owner is on site and very accomodating and respectful. So for a getaway or long term this is wonderful place to stay with necessities a mere 12 to 15 minutes from this location.
Do NOT stay here
This property is nice, the location was okay, and I got to go hiking at a state park a few minutes away. That's where the positives end. What I want to warn others about, are the owners. Jim is the overall property owner, and while he is nice, he lacks a spine. He lied to me by telling me he had "GigaBit" WiFi out there, which they do not. Several speed tests throughout my 6-month stay only maxed out at around 20 Mpbs, and I often had to turn off most of my devices just to download something. I mentioned this to Jim several times, and his only fix was to bring a router, which did not work. You stay in one half of of floor of a side home which his mom used to live in, and upon moving in, I had to throw away a lot of food and spices that had expired years ago. Also if you do not like lighting, do not stay here as they have a "dusk to dawn" lamppost right outside your room which adds too much lighting at night when trying to sleep. Their response? "It never turns off." His wife Marge is even worse. Jim said that I could park on the property's concrete patio once I got moved in, as he did not care. Within the first week of parking on the concrete patio, I came out one morning to find the patio furniture right up against my car. When I saw the owners outside, I confronted Marge about it and she got lippy with me and said I was never allowed to touch the concrete with my car! Since then she had it out for me. Whenever she mowed, she made it a point to mow very closely to my parked car to blow grass clippings all over it. Whenever she was outside with her dog, she would snap at their dog whenever it came by for pets. She started taking my mail and holding it hostage, even going to far to throwing it away and calling my mail "junk mail". I threatened to contact the postmaster general and sheriff's office and all she said was it was "HER" property and "how dare" I confront her about things on HER property. When she knew I was there at night, some nights she would leave their motion detector light above their porch on overnight so the light would seep through my windows. This woman has a chip on her shoulder. When I went to Jim about it, he shrugged his shoulders and said we were both adults and should work it out somehow. He just didn't care. This is an old couple that only cares about their lawn so expect to be disturbed by noises of lawn equipment and vehicles throughout the day almost everyday. Jim also enters the other side of the house a couple times per week to take work calls so if you work from home during quiet times you WILL hear him talking from the other side. Overall I'd stay away from this place especially when there are several other options for working professionals or nurses in the Dayton area for you to stay in. These owners are flat out unprofessional!
Awesome family and friendly!
J and his wife are truly awesome people and host! The place is exceptionally clean and has all amenities you may require. I truly felt like family the 3 months I stayed here! If they have available I highly recommend this place!!
