Fail to understand trauma and duress

offered an extension early in my contract and really didn't want to be there but signed a lease and needed to get far away, told them it was signed under duress and would exit on the agreed upon date. they say they don't see it that way, gave a 30 day notice to plan my escape and attempt to recover from the trauma, and financial ruin, restocked the cabinets and fridge, got an amazing storage unit because the bathroom had no space, thousands in new bedding, pots and pans, appliances donated because as a 10 year traveler I know what we want and need. they want you to give a ridiculous deposit, sign a lease instead of monthly like every other place, make you sign up for electricity, much more hassle than it is worth, and God forbid something happens that you really don't want to talk about.
