Questionable
Well, the house is ok but clearly the home area I was in has not been updated. Heating was an issue in the winter on the top floor and I am sure it must be sweltering in the summer. Plumbing is horrible. I was there approx 2 months. Only sink is the bathroom but there is a makeshift kitchen which is not really functional bc there is not a formal kitchen sink. Was told when I moved out I would get back my deposit then she disappeared. She was in my room more often than necessary, not sure why but my bathroom towels were moved around more than once so I know she was in my room. Kind of creepy. Beware that for no reason she will keep your deposit if you move in. I paid $300 for nothing. I created no damage nor bothered her ever. Insulting to be taken advantage of by anyone.
Charming old house
I stayed for a month in one of Pams room just when i was moving to Iowa City. Had a wonderful stay at this lovely old house full of character and charm! The location was great, just a short walk to downtown, grocery store around the corner and view out to the park. Pam was very welcoming and helpful. She gave some great suggestions for local restaurants and sights. Later in the summer some visiting family members also stayed at Pams place, and had a great time. Wed happily stay here again!
Old House, many rules
The owner is nice and friendly. She likes to get to know the tenants. The price is on the cheaper end for the area. The house is Victorian style, which is cool. The space is a room in a shared upstairs with kitchen. No TV or living area. There is some chairs in the room. The house does show it's age with limited insulation and old windows. With this the room gets hot fast. There is a window AC unit from 2002. The AC is a bit noisy, which blocks out city noise. The owner has some set rules about leaving AC off when out of room. This makes the room hot to come back to. I left the room AC on due to hot days over 80, but owner turned off before I came home. Rules state that heat gets turned on below 60. Many other rules are posted on sticky notes throughout the space.
