A great neighborhood, very walkable. One of Medfords older neighborhoods. There are several neighborhood parks, a one mile ride to the Bear Creek Greenway. Very central, all services within 1-2 miles.
Just like Home
I thoroughly enjoyed Laurie and Dan and Penny and their comfortable home. The neighborhood is quiet with a variety of trails and central to shopping, but not too close. Laurie did not disappoint, providing me with space, balanced with a generosity of presence. Her knowledge of all things local and willingness to help and share is unbeatable. Dan's meticulous project engineering/completion clearly makes the home a place you want to be. And Penny, whom another reviewer described to a TI wanted to take her home, but alas she would fall into a deep depression without her mom and dad! She is guaranteed to make you smile and laugh. If you like to cook, the kitchen has all you could want, and the stove top and outdoor grill are superb! Don't wait. The Absolute Gold Standard of Hosts Laurie, Dan & Penny! If youre a healthcare professional looking for a warm, welcoming, and truly thoughtful place to land during an assignment, do yourself a favor and book with Laurie and Dan in Medford, OR. I genuinely cannot say enough about the extraordinary experience I had staying with themand with their sweet dog, Penny, who quickly became my best buddy and emotional support greeter after every long night shift at the hospital. Penny had me trainedyes, trained!to bring her treats every time I came through the door. Be it coming into the house after working, or coming out of my bedroom door, when I woke up in the afternoon. Shed greet me without fail, doing a happy little dance, full tail-and-body wags, and letting out the most adorable howl as if to say, Hurry up, Im so excited to get my cookie! That greeting became my favorite part of each day and gave me so much comfort and joy after long shifts. Laurie and Dan are two of the kindest, most accommodating people Ive ever met. They were incredibly mindful of my schedule, always keeping noise to a minimum during the day (a couple times, warning me when something noisy was going to occur) so I could sleep peacefully after my 12-hour night shifts. They even drove me to and from the Medford airportnot once, but twiceso I didnt have to pay for parking when I flew to visit my daughter in Loxley, AL (in late March) and again when I visited my sisters and their families in Santa Clarita, CA (in late April). The room was clean, cozy, and perfect for my needs: 2 closets, a dresser, 2 bedside tables, a TV, a tall college-style refrigerator/freezer (none of those tiny cube ones!), a private bathroom just across the hall, access to the kitchen, and full use of the washer and dryer. When I needed a computer, they let me borrow their old laptopso thoughtful and helpful. And heres a perfect example of just how generous and trusting they are: early on, they had offered the use of their e-bike if I ever had time off and wanted to enjoy a leisurely ride. One night, as I was about to leave for work, my car suddenly wouldnt start. I remembered the e-bike offer and went to the garageonly to spot their car. Since they were out of town, I messaged to ask if, I could possibly borrow the car just to get to the hospital. Without hesitation, they told me exactly where the keys were. That level of kindness and trust is rare, and I was blown away by it. Living with Laurie, Dan, and Penny felt like staying with familythe kind of family that respects your space, supports your schedule, and genuinely cares about your well-being. Im endlessly grateful for the time I spent with them, and if youre lucky enough to have the chance to stay heredont hesitate. I KNOW if I have a chance to return to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center for another assignment, I'd come back "home" to stay with them again. Five stars arent enough. Id give them a hundred if I could.
Home from home
I stayed here for a contract and one extension. My room was very spacious and comfortable. the bathroom was also very nice. The kitchen had everything I needed. It is also close to the hospital where I worked(Rogue) , only a few minutes away along with places to eat and shop. I worked 3rd and Laurie and Dan were very accommodating in trying to keep noise down or letting me know when they had company over that could cause extra noise. As I stayed during the holidays they offered an invitation to their dinner and was very much a home from home. Traveling for work can get lonely and staying here made my time in Medford easier. They also have a dog named Penny who always greeted me home from work (though she trained me for a cookie every time).
Great place! Close to everything!
I love this place! The room is huge and the bathroom is just across the hallway. Kitchen is shared with the owner and everything you need is on hand(even the spices). Couple owner has been super nice, even their dog welcomed me. I was assigned to Providence MMC and it's the perfect place, 5 mins away from work. I work nights and it's very convenient drive, I get to bed in few minutes. Very quiet neighborhood, easy for me to sleep away even during the day.(I have been using whitenoises and it works well for me). Will recommend for PMMC assignment.
