Great Stay
I had a great stay here. I spent a majority of my stay by myself so it felt like I had an entire house to myself. It was close to my job and Jorge was a great host. I stay in contact with Jorge still, hes a great guy and I would definitely stay here again.

I dont usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share my experience for anyone considering a short-term stay near MPT. I stayed at Jorges place for a few months while taking courses, and while the location was ideal walking distance to the school and close to stores there were definitely some challenges.
First, the photos in the listing arent up to date The house looks more worn in person, so if youre expecting it to match the photos exactly, you might be disappointed. The space has a much more lived-in feel than advertised.
With 3 tenants and the landlord the house can feel cramped, especially in shared areas like the kitchen and fridge. I was lucky to have good roommates and we made it work.
The $150 cleaning fee was hard to justify. I never saw a professional cleaning service during my stay, and common areas werent maintained regularly. Jorge does little yard work and light upkeep himself but for that price, I expected more the way he described. To be fair, Jorge did reduce my cleaning fee by half since, I kept my areas clean, which I appreciated. But even with the discount, the fee still felt high given the overall condition and lack of professional cleaning.
He presents the house as a family-style setup and says hell help out or be flexible, especially for people working or studying but that wasnt my experience. When I needed a little understanding at the end of my stay, the tone shifted quickly to this is business.
Jorge is on the property almost daily, often doing little yard work or talking on the phone outside, which makes it hard to feel relaxed or like you have any privacy. He sometimes says he wont be around or that hes giving tenants space, but in reality, hes almost always there. He starts cooking around 10pm and if you have the room by the kitchen, you hear it all. The fact He also has access to all room codes and has entered rooms without notice, felt invasive.
There were also times when he had people over without telling anyone, which made things feel less private or secure.
Unless it was about rent, communication was hit-or-miss. Support for anything else was hard to get.
Overall: the location is convenient and I met good people in the house. But its not a traditional rental and not what the listing suggests. If youre looking for peace, privacy, and professionalism, this probably isnt it. Go in with eyes open and adjusted expectations
- Tenant never gave me complaints about the house during his stay. Against, he extended his agreement for additional 30 days. I am sure this tenant posted the above bad review because he requested reimbursement of 5 days before he left, and I didnt accept his request. Tenant signed a 30-day rental agreement extension but decided to leave 5 days prior to contract expiration and informed landlord about his decision just 2 days prior to check out date. That day, when I denied his request, that was when he mentioned some concerns about the house to justify his reimbursement request. I think, tenant just wants to discredit this business because I denied his request. There are things he mentioned in his review that are not true, that I want to clarify below:
Tenant posted "the photos in the listing arent up to date. The house looks more worn in person" thats not true, the house is not worn. The photos are current, but I also sent a short video of the house before he made his decision. That video is current. When he arrived at the house the first day, he mentioned the house looks great in person. The tenant never complained about that during his stay (3 months).
- Tenant posted: "The $150 cleaning fee was hard to justify. I never saw a professional cleaning service during my stay, and common areas weren't maintained regularly". First of all, the cleaning fee was not $150.00. the cleaning fee was $125.00. he only paid full cleaning fee the first month. Then the second month, I waived the entire cleaning fee and he only paid the rent without cleaning fee, but he agreed to clean his own room, but at that time he was sharing the bathroom with another tenant and we had to clean that bathroom plus the common areas for everybody. Then, he extended for a third month and I waived half of cleaning fee. (I keep the common areas clean all the time) there are rules in the house about cleaning too.
Tenant posted: "He starts cooking around 10 pm and if you have the room by the kitchen, you hear it all". This is not true. I rarely go to the kitchen area, especially when tenants are in the house.
Tenant posted: "The fact He also has access to all room codes and has entered rooms without notice, felt invasive". It is clear to me with this statement, that the tenant is trying to say that I am not supposed to know the room codes neither enter the rooms without permission. First of all, I am the one that gives tenants the door entrance codes as well as their room code (the only person that knows the room code is the specific tenant and myself). In the rental agreement says the house keeper will clean the bedroom/bathroom and change towels and sheets. We inform tenants about the cleaning date also. In his specific case, his room was never cleaned because first month he received his room clean. During second month, he asked me in a text message if he can wash his towels and sheets. I said "Of course" I also told him that I can bring clean sheets and towels to his room. The following day, I came there and left clean towels and sheets in his room. I informed him about that, he said thank you. That was an extra I did, and he showed appreciation at that time.
Tenant posted: "There were also times when he had people over without telling anyone, which made things feel less private or secure" this is a lie too. There were few times during his three months there when I brought someone there; however, I informed in advance. I brought a friend to install a ceiling fan in my bedroom. and I told him. The person went there there from entrance door directly to my room. I had to remove electricity just for few minutes while he was working with the wires. The other time I brought a person, he was the only tenant in the house. It was a friend that came to fix the sprinkler system. That person came to my house and went directly to my back yard because he was working outside doing that. He was doing that for less than an hour and left. (Tenant was informed about that in advance). The other time a person went there, was on April 19 when the other tenant left. House keeper went to the house to check the room and remove the towels and sheets and take it out. House keeper knocked on the front door, but nobody opened and she opened with the code and he was in living room. She announced herself saying I am the house keeper and I am here to check the room. I communicated with him saying thats the house keeper checking the room that is de-occupied to check if everything is ok, and also to remove the sheets and towels. At that time I was not in town.
Note: There were few things that happened during his stay that I would never mention because to be honest I dont like to make complaints about anybody unless it is harmful to me. Tenant used to leave his bedroom window open most of the time (6-8 inches open). I saw that and mentioned to him and he corrected. He told me at that time the bedroom is hot. I said, the air from outside is even hotter. I also told him, you have a fan, so you can also put the fan, plus the AC was on all the time. I think he was opening that window all the time because he smokes. Sometimes, the smells went through the AC vents and I got it in my room. I dont know if he continued leaving that window open while I was not at home. Sometimes I travel either for work or go to the other house in fort Lauderdale or travel out of town for work (1-2 weeks or so). Tenant was also leaving the bathroom window open (5-6 inches) all the time. Tenant brought a lady the last day he stayed in the house (on 05/24/25 at 10:33 pm) she left with him the following day (on 05/25/25 at 3:49 pm). I have the video because I have a camera in driveway and also front door. I didnt say anything to him because he was the only in the house and nobody would make complaint. However, it is clear in rental agreement and house rules. House rules: THE ROOM YOU ARE RENTING IS ONLY FOR ONE PERSON, THATS THE ONE PERSON WHO IS RENTING THE UNIT. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY GUEST OVERNIGHT, UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY THE OWNER. IF YOU HAVE AN OVERNIGHT GUEST, WITHOUT ASKING, THERE MAY BE A PENALTY OF $200.00 PER OCCURRENCE. Rental agreement says, The unit is for 1 person only, if you are having stay over company, there will be a $50.00 fee per person per night fee. There is NO SMOKING allowed neither in the house nor outside. NO SMOKING!!! tenant never asked me if he can bring that person; however, the day after he left I reimbursed his entire security deposit ($500.00), even when I had the right to subtract $200.00 for bringing that person to my house without my consent.

Great Place to Stay
Property Owner was very kind and easy to talk to. No major issues during the stay. Plenty of space to enjoy the house even with others. Perfect location and you can easily get anywhere you may need to go. The backyard was great to relax in despite traffic noise and daycare next door (not really noticeable from inside the house). Would 100% stay again when in the area!

Absolutely recommended
I rented a room with J for three months and it was an excellent experience. He was always very concerned, present, and kind. He responded quickly to my questions, he was always concerned about the cleanliness of the house and its maintenance. There was an occasion in which due to misuse of the AC one of the tenants caused the system to freeze and we were left without air conditioning. J quickly contacted a company to repair it and solved the problem quickly. The facilities are of a very good standard, fully furnished and with all the necessary amenities. The location is exceptional, good neighborhood, safe, and quiet.
