Get a tour first

I'm really not one to complain; I did somehow manage to stick around the apartment my entire 3 month lease after personally deep cleaning what I could. The unit was most likely not up to fire code as the place was fueled by extension cords and power strips in every corner and I'd be curious if the smoke alarms worked. The old decrepit bathroom was still covered in hair, fingernail clippings, and dirt the day I moved in. The outlet did have some issues in the bathroom as well. (that the landlord was attentive to come fix when I brought it up.) Every wall, door, light switch, and cabinet was covered in a sticky, drippy, dried on, yellow stained residue like someone had smoked in the apartment for 30+ years or something. You could smell a faint bit of the smoke as well. The almost excessive number of dishes and appliances that were housed in the filthy cabinets got zero use from me and I found myself ordering out way more than normal. I did let the landlord know about the cleanliness issues and they did re-compensate me about $400 or so for my troubles. None the less, I just wanted to leave an honest review for the next nurse considering this place to maybe get a tour and see if it's improved some before agreeing to renting. That is something I neglected doing and ended up regretting. I gave 2 stars because the landlord at least was kind and attentive. She made some effort in wanting to make things right, as well as the location closeness to Sanford.
