Terrible Landlord, Great Unit

TLDR version: 5/5 unit, 0/5 management. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR FULL SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK. The management (Clutch Industries) was unresponsive at best and disrespectful and shady at worst. I was instructed to pay a full month's rent and deposit at the beginning of our lease (on the 8th of the month), and then rent was due on the first of each month. We ended our lease on the 3rd, so I figured the rent was covered for those 3 days because we had paid for an extra 7 days at the beginning of our lease. Management told me "The non-prorated first months rent was never agreed to carry over to any other monthly rent charge," and they would take the 3 days rent from our security deposit. In addition, you are instructed to leave your unit in the same condition it was given to you, but there is also a $250 non-refundable cleaning fee automatically taken from your security deposit. I spent three days cleaning our apartment because I didn't remember that from the lease. Our apartment was cleaner than when we moved in (there was a ton of spider eggs and dead flies in the upper cabinets when we moved in), but we still got charged a cleaning fee because it was in the lease. I would not have cleaned so thoroughly had I known about the fee. Paying rent is a nightmare! You are instructed to pay online, but there is a 3% platform fee, which really adds up. We asked to pay via check, which is allowed per the lease, but our check frequently was lost by management, and we were required to write another. When I would try to call, text, and email to ensure our rent was received, it would take days for someone to respond. I would not recommend this management company, Clutch Industries, to anyone! They took between $900-1,000 from my partner and I, between rent that "did not carry over" and unnecessary fees.
